  1. Cashman made a couple of solid picks there, plus letting Robertson go.
  2. And Koji was not out of nowhere. He was an established reliever with fine numbers that Ben got a crazy good price on.
  3. Are there any cases of players getting the same money or negligible raises in arbitration, or do they always get a bump unless non-tendered?
  4. When you're the Red Sox, those arms seem to be elusive devils. If you go back over our pitching stat sheets each year, you won't find many of these out of nowhere relievers who did well over any significant period.
  5. Travis is starting to raise some hopes he can hit at the ML level.
  6. I think there is a real risk that none of the dumpster dives will amount to anything. You could produce a pretty lengthy list of dumpster dive pitchers the Red Sox have acquired over the years, and not a lot of them were successful. Theo himself has used a philosophy of allocating a fair chunk of money to the bullpen.
  7. I don't think Sox fans should expect a big haul of top prospects by trading Mookie this offseason. Because the team that acquires him will also have to pick up a tab of $27 million or so for one season of control.
  8. It certainly removes all but a few teams from even thinking about it, if the Halos ever do decide to move his contract.
  9. I hope he stays on the Angels. But I hope he gets to play in a World Series or two.
  10. Vazquez is much better than Leon, and that's why he's the #1 catcher. But Chris Sale has historically done much better with Leon behind the plate.
  11. As jung pointed out, Sale has always done extremely well against the Angels, so we have to temper our excitement a bit on that account.
  12. Trout seems to be in a class of his own.
  13. I don't think any of us know what approach the Sox are going to take this offseason. Shaughnessy thinks Dombrowski is a goner. If he's right, what does that mean in terms of the next team-building philosophy?
  14. I believe you have been spot on correct about this.
  15. Sale's K/9 and K/BB ratio are the best of all time, and quite a bit higher than CC's at the same point in time.
  16. Inside Edge shows that JBJ has a vastly reduced number of routine plays this year for whatever reason.
  17. Darwinzon? Walden's numbers are also perfectly acceptable.
  18. Don't even say that, man LOL
  19. So health permitting Tom Brady will be playing 3 more years. Pretty amazing.
  20. I kind of envy people who are fans of all the Boston teams. That would be pretty cool.
  21. OTOH those Inside Edge numbers you quoted for Beni were very interesting, weren't they? At first I thought there had to be something wrong but I checked them out and I was a bit shocked.
  22. If the stat folks could produce an event log for the defensive ratings it might resolve a lot of these arguments.
  23. You're a good man danny. Good to see you here posting a lot.
