  1. I really don't think the team or the fans thought this year was going to be a 'cakewalk'. I think most folks are aware that no team has gone back-to-back since the 2000 Yankees, for starters.
  2. If they reset this way, they're basically telling the fans the team has no chance in 2020 despite the enormous payroll. They'll look like chumps.
  3. As moon pointed out, Johnson pitched 5 scoreless innings in his previous start. Mind you that was back in June. Johnson will definitely be back next year. He's not even arb-eligible until 2021.
  4. I'm a little surprised to see JDM with that much 'surplus value', considering his age, DH status, and player-friendly contract.
  5. Even though most of us have given up on the season, it's too early for the team to do so.
  6. JDM is having a fine season, and being punished a bit by expectations. Hopefully his back isn't becoming a serious issue. I can't really see him opting out after this year. It would be risking a lot of dough.
  7. Well, he'll always have the 2018 postseason: 10 appearances 2 wins, 3 holds 8.2 IP 1 ER .464 OPSa I think we hold onto him and see how he does with a new pitching coach.
  8. Well, now that the Yankees are done raping, pillaging and plundering us for a while... Tanaka had another rough one tonight, against the Birds.
  9. This season doesn't reflect very well on Cora, obviously. But I thought the parades meant everything to you. That's why I don't get the campaign to crucify him so soon after one. Cora's overall record including postseason, BTW, stands at 178-112 (.614).
  10. So because Springer hit 381/485/667 in the series, which contradicts your position, you're going to attribute it to what they were shooting into him? Amazing.
  11. Right. And as I said, our ace was obviously at much less than 100%. Case closed.
  12. Christ jung, in that pivotal 4th game, the Astros scored 6 runs and left the bases loaded in the 9th when Beni robbed Bregman. Their offense was not the problem. We were fortunate to win that game, but not for the reasons you're putting forth.
  13. Maybe it was just a bad tactical move on Hinch's part.
  14. I think the Yankees starters, especially Paxton and Happ, have to step up for them to win it. You can't win on bullpen alone.
  15. Brace yourself for incoming posts on our statistical chances from harmony.
  16. In this case it's an 8 game losing streak plus the season's over for all intents and purposes.
  17. The Red Sox did have a significant health issue as well. Our ace starter Chris Sale, who pitched little the last 2 months of the season and was clearly far from 100% in his postseason appearances.
  18. And Johnson and Velazquez were pretty solid contributors in 2018.
  19. I would rather keep sending them out there for their starts, assuming they're healthy, and try to figure out what the issues are. At this point the results don't matter that much.
  20. Yeah, but I think all of us were feeling much better about the team after we pummelled the Yankees in those 3 games. And I don't think any of us foresaw them turning right around and dropping 8 straight.
  21. And Weber had a good start against the Jays this year. But he got smoked in his next start. I think he's one of those guys who can look good when he's 100% on. But you can say that about a lot of pitchers.
  22. No, Springer played the whole series and hit 381/485/667. Seems pretty healthy to me.
  23. That Houston team we beat last year had just demolished a very good Guardians team in 3 straight, outscoring them 21-6.
  24. Pitching generally wins in the playoffs.
