  1. Brez is the boss, but he did make a 4 year offer. Presumably just the usual confusion and dysfunction.
  2. Seems like people are catching onto our non-seriousness!
  3. Seems like another case of the Sox offering less than they know it takes to get it done. They have a ton of experience at it. Not that I want Bregman, at this point I'd actually be happy to read that the Stros signed him. These drawn-out melodramas of the offseason (reminiscent of Monty last year) really get tiresome and the outcomes are usually anticlimactic.
  4. I'm concerned about our offense for 3 reasons: 1) The horrible finish to 2024 - averaging about 3 runs a game for the last 6 weeks. Some of that was Devers being hurt, obviously, but it could have been more - maybe pitchers had figured out how to attack our weaknesses. 2) Losing O'Neill, our third best hitter in 2024, and replacing him with J. Diddlesquat. 3) How did Devers's inflamed shoulders heal? As I've been saying the big hope is the kids, and it sure looks like they're going to count on them.
  5. Football is definitely not as random as baseball.
  6. I thought 5 Gloves was clearly, though cleverly, referencing both presidents. "New administration" is kind of the giveaway. But let's all just stop referring to his post and move on.
  7. I'm unhappy because they've won 78, 78 and 81 games and missed the playoffs the last 3 years, and they continue not to spend money the way they could to sign talent, to the detriment of the team. Most projections have us as an 85 win team or so. They can do better than that. They're spending like a mid market team which they're not. Kennedy says they're aiming to be a 90+ win team, but they're just not backing it up. They lose O'Neill's bat and do nothing to replace him. My beef is not with Breslow. I think he's probably doing a good job given the restraints he's under.
  8. It's refreshing to have a guy like Cohen be so candid with everyone. Feels like this was the unvarnished truth.
  9. It's turning out much like last offseason. There was a flurry of big money signings, we expected it to continue, but then everything really slowed down. Now it feels like the old game of waiting for the prices to come down. Flaherty and Pivetta will get signed, but it looks like for much less than they hoped.
  10. Yeah, this seems like a good time to remind everyone: politics are an absolute no-go, no matter how subtly you express your opinions.
  11. They should really sign David Robertson. If he signs elsewhere for a 1 year reasonable deal, it'll be more proof that they're still just being cheap.
  12. Weirdly enough, after our jabbering about the Ohtani gambling thing a few days ago, we find out they have a recording of the interpreter talking to a bank rep, impersonating Ohtani, saying the money is a loan to a friend for a car etc. The recording came from the bank so it appears to be pretty solid evidence against the interpreter.
  13. I stated a simple fact, and you're making totally unfounded assumptions, trying to push me into the position you want me to have, so you can argue from the opposite position. Classic straw man. Nothing new for you.
  14. Yes, he was moved to 1B in the 12th inning of an 18 inning game.
  15. I guess it's an open question whether all the playing out of position stuff was a Cora thing or a "brain trust"/penny-pinching thing. e.g. Bloom refusing to sign a shortstop when Story went down.
  16. Campbell and Anthony are the ones who have to spark the interest. The rest of that lineup stunk for the last 6 weeks of the season.
  17. What a lot of people probably don't realize is that Henry isn't even majority owner of the team any more. There is no majority owner. FSG needed a big cash infusion because of Covid losses and they sold a 10% share to RedBird Capital. At that point Henry's share went down to about 40%. All the stereotypes about FSG are true, unfortunately. We're being run by a consortium with a lot of stakeholders to please. Red Sox fans seem to be low on the list.
  18. Same principle. Not a full season, anything could happen in the games that were missed, blah, blah, blah You already know my stance on 2020, I'm just being mischievous for the sake of it, to pass the time on another no-news-is-bad-news day from the Sox. 😀
  19. 1995 shouldn't even count, according to those who say 2020 shouldn't count! 🙃
  20. I don't think there's actually that much talk about it. For whatever reason Cora decided to put it out there as a possibility. Maybe it was just to make Yoshida feel better about himself...
  21. And the ownership of the time backed him up by funding the extension for Pedro, and the signing of Manny, which was the next huge step forward..
