  1. Yeah, who would have thought Bregman's bomb would be the final scoring for the Stros. It's a crazy freaking game.
  2. Interesting that fWAR gives Bogey the nod.
  3. Urquidy threw 67 pitches in Game 4, so he should be available for several innings.
  4. And Strasburg is the new Schilling.
  5. Yes, it would be very simple, except for the paying them all part.
  6. OTOH he hasn't f**ked anything up yet. I wonder if he truly realizes what kind of nutjob fanbase he has scrutinizing him now. The same ones who called Theo Epstein Boy Genius, Boy Blunder, Gorilla Suit, Inepstein, Epstink and the like.
  7. Very true, but 7-8 win players are still nice to have.
  8. There were also some vicious rumors about Cabrera's off-field carnal antics.
  9. Everyone is entitled to their own take, but to me the bottom line is whether the team that wins it all is one you would have called a longshot going into the playoffs. Sure, the Cards knocked off the Braves, but they promptly got stomped the next round. This is about who can win 3 series in a row.
  10. But if they win this World Series that will be 2 championships and 1 ALCS appearance. That clearly makes them the dominant team of the 3 years, results-wise, regardless of the closeness of the series.
  11. Poor Dave. No respect.
  12. My thinking is pretty much the same as yours. If it really is a crapshoot, more longshots should be coming in.
  13. They will do less of it, I would agree. But obviously they still won't like having 3 same-side guys in a row.
  14. If the Astros win this year, it'll be 4 straight years that a team with the best record, or close to it, won.
  15. Theo Epstein was here 9 years, and it's not really clear that he couldn't have stayed on longer if that's what he wanted.
  16. But like it or not, it's the GM's who deliver the guys who play the game.
  17. Yes, the main difference was defense. Xander and Devers did both have higher offensive WAR's than Mookie.
  18. I would consider the bells and whistles approach. Front-loaded and with an opt-out.
  19. Aren't the Astros making a pretty good case for 'not a crapshoot'? They've been the dominant regular season team over the last 3 years. And they've been the dominant postseason team over the last 3 years.
  20. It's not a black and white question. That's why I put 'degrees of crapshoot' in the poll.
  21. Yes, that has been solidly random.
  22. You are hereby appointed as our representative to approach John Henry on this matter.
  23. It's certainly a sure way for David to go from a Yankee fan favorite to a Yankee fan target of abuse.
  24. Sounds like he got canned for roughly the same reason LeVangie did - too old school.
