  1. I didn't even realize this until looking it up, but when the Yanks traded Chapman to the Cubs in July/16, they not only got Gleyber Torres, but Adam Warren and Billy McKinney (who was later traded to the Jays in the deal for J A Happ) and another player. And we talk about what DD gave up for Kimbrel! I'll take that half-measure any day.
  2. That's going to happen some years. The Rays have done a great job turning low payroll into good players. But I'll still take the 4 titles to their goose egg any time...
  3. I'm fine with being a Budgie. It's definitely a thing now. It just amazes me that Spotrac and Roster Resource are using blatantly wrong AAV numbers, and yet are being quoted. Meanwhile Cot's Contracts numbers seem consistently bang on.
  4. You're really painting with a broad brush this morning. I think there have been a few successful platoons in history. Moreland and Pearce were a nice platoon in 2018, and would have been this year if not for that stupid injury thing.
  5. Come on, man. That was a great line in Breaking Bad, but it doesn't really apply here. Seems to me the Yankees' half-measure with Chapman in 2016 worked out perfectly for them.
  6. Erroneous numbers again. Drives me nuts. Just for one quick example, they've got Sale's 2020 AAV at 29 mill when it should be 25.6 mill. Why they don't use the far superior Cot's Contracts I don't know.
  7. No, it suggested we might trade for Marisnick separately.
  8. No one knows. Henry seemed to be 100% in favor of it and made comments about not wanting to make the same mistake they made with Lester. To me if anyone should be blamed for Sale it's whoever examined his left arm before the deal was signed.
  9. I think it's all about striking a balance. And Zombie Apocalypse is certainly one of the factors in the calculation.
  10. But if he plays well the price tag might go up $80 million. That's the rub.
  11. And that insane throw he made this year. I don't think he lacks in brute strength.
  12. Well said. And LOL on the bolded part.
  13. We've been over this a bunch of times. If Sale had a great season this year he would have been a free agent looking for $200 million plus. The extension has a present value of $128 million. So in a perfect world, the extension was fantastic. But it ain't a perfect world, and Dr. Andrews will soon tell us how screwed we are.
  14. In Henry and Bloom I trust to make him the right offer. Nothing else we can do.
  15. Maybe Severino is an injury-prone guy too. It's all speculative at this point.
  16. Mookie has super quick twitch muscles and, I assume, very strong wrists and forearms. That's where he gets his power from.
  17. The Yankees 2019 offensive numbers were like our 2013 offensive numbers - a huge number of guys having career years or close to it.
  18. Jax, all that really matters is the 4-1 score in my sig line held this year.
  19. Some weaknesses in the Yankees pen were exposed in the postseason. Ottavino and Green were brutal.
  20. I've come to a conclusion...the idea of trading Mookie makes me nauseous.
  21. You just made my head spin like a Tilt-a-Whirl.
  22. There was a lot of speculation it was a different ball in the postseason. In other words, it may already be changed.
