  1. Then you're the Rays.
  2. I didn't even realize they tendered JBJ. Oddly enough no one else here mentioned it, I don't think.
  3. Sox fans are so nutty that guys are on the hot seat before they even get hired.
  4. We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes though.
  5. True. Some of the key numbers are verifiable though, right? Payroll obviously is. Gate revenue must be. Is TV revenue verifiable?
  6. Chaim has a gargantuan, if not impossible task fielding a competitive team in 2020 and staying under 208 million.
  7. I'm giving harmony a pass on this one. The Yankees made a bad signing. Big deal. We've made plenty of them. Big deal. It really doesn't matter that much. I'm a bottom line guy.
  8. Taxing profits might be one way to do it.
  9. The big question for Chaim is how he replaces Porcello's innings, especially with the uncertain health of our big guns. We could be looking at a lot of bullpen games this year, that's for sure.
  10. The madness is not going to stop, not as long as baseball is flourishing financially. Free agents are hit and miss, and all the stat geeks in the world haven't figured out a way to predict with certainty which ones will succeed and which will flop.
  11. You do realize it's spelled Chaim?
  12. Devers isn't going anywhere.
  13. All the GM's who have a lot of money to play with have wasted piles of it. Cashman, Dombrowski, Theo, Ben. The great news for Sox fans is that we have overcome our wastages and won championships in spite of them. As for BB, it's not a great comparison. BB is of course awesome at what he does. But the structure in football is completely different.
  14. Nice of you leave out Rusney.
  15. I sincerely hope there are no other teams involved. It's enough of a fiasco as it is.
  16. MLBTR predicted 4/68, so they were pretty close.
  17. Didn't you used to like having Wakefield as an innings-eating 5th starter, even if his ERA was 4.75?
  18. Can't we wait until Logan Allen does something before we bitch about him? Like in the good old days?
  19. And I don't really disagree with that. But if that was a Red Sox move, giving up Gleyber Torres plus other players of value for a rental of a closer, we'd never hear the end of it - title or not.
  20. DD's overpay for Kimbrel was dwarfed by the GOAT Theo's overpay for Chapman.
  21. The Kimbrel trade being a classic example.
  22. No one really knows if Ellsbury is healthy or not. The Yankees were designating him as unhealthy the last couple of years to collect insurance on him.
  23. Bring up all Ben's moves again too. We'll devise a rating system for each move. We've only just begun with this...
  24. If Ellsbury was healthy he might be a good 4th outfielder at minimum wage.
  25. Pedroia and Bogaerts didn't have agents?
