  1. His first year turned out OK.
  2. Maybe they made the big pitches when they needed them.
  3. I've been a fan for 50 years. That may not be longer than you, but it's long.
  4. Even though you know very little about why they actually decided he was the best candidate.
  5. Bush might be an advocate of a very fresh approach. And the new structure might be very effective. I doubt a guy like Bloom accepted a position where he has no power in the decision-making process. You just choose to make every negative assumption possible.
  6. Yes, I figured you'd bring Restgate into it at some point. Maybe they didn't ask Bush about it. Ort maybe he dissented strenuously! Try to think a little more positively, Nick.
  7. Yeah, I'm sure he's totally brainwashed and can't handle any changes at all.
  8. Your argument is specious, because Bush hasn't been in the organization that long. It's not like he's a member of the old guard.
  9. 1996 was 5 in a row.
  10. Per Alex Speier: Bush joined the Red Sox in 2016 as an analyst working with minor leaguers before moving into a coordinator role following the 2018 season. He has worked with numerous Red Sox prospects on pitch design and pitch mixes, trying to maximize the effectiveness of their arsenals. In 2019, he also joined the big league team for multiple stretches, assisting former pitching coach Dana LeVangie. Bush emerged as the clear front-runner from a pool of five candidates interviewed by the Red Sox this offseason prior to the hiring of Chaim Bloom as the team chief baseball officer. Rather than reopening the search, in a sign of the much-discussed collaboration that Bloom and others in the Red Sox organization discussed at his introduction on Monday, the new Red Sox baseball operations leader was comfortable with the comprehensive process that led the team to promote Bush.
  11. I assume they evaluated Bush as a good fit with the fresh approach.
  12. It's just standard baseball fan behavior, no?
  13. Kimmi knows the umpire's eye test isn't more reliable, though.
  14. I don't even care that much, frankly LOL Glad it's not a Red Sox move we're second-guessing.
  15. When it happened or after the fact, though?
  16. It was a home run followed by a walk, though. And no room to play with. And Greinke had not been pitching that well this postseason, so I can see why Hinch would be concerned the wheels were about to come off.
  17. That god forsaken backwater?
  18. Cole gave up 5 runs in Game 1 of the Series to these same Nats, including 2 dingers. Like every pitcher, he doesn't always have it. And how would he do 2 days after throwing 110 pitches? I don't think anyone knows.
  19. Hinch's reasoning for his moves seems pretty sound to me. Sometimes you do things right and the player doesn't do the job. Dave Roberts brought in his Hall of Fame ace in Game 5 against the Nats and look where it got him.
  20. The control thing is why I'm thinking JDM might opt out. It might cost him a few mill, but he'll have more control over where he plays next year.
  21. I don't know, it seems like he was trying to make a joke with the comment about not being employed by the team any more. He went on to say some nice things about the team. But it does seem a foregone conclusion he'll be playing elsewhere next year.
  22. It is two different things. One is officiating the game. One is statistical, and very unofficial, analysis.
  23. Ask the Dodgers how it worked out with Kershaw...
  24. The real question should be this: Has the team with the worst record won as many as the team with the best record?
