  1. Except Wheeler has pitched 377.2 innings over the last 2 seasons. So he's got a nice Recency Effect going for him.
  2. That's one part of it. The other part is that trading him so you can re-set so you can have a lower tax rate for two years so you can (try to) pay the guy $35 million a year for 10 years is not much of a plan.
  3. You're right, but that's the other thing fans do, is whine. I have no regrets about the Price signing, personally. He made it pay in 2018.
  4. A lot of Yankee fans are pissed off at Cashman for being too clever about the starting pitching, not just doing the obvious thing and acquiring the big name studs.
  5. Fans want championships. Championship teams of recent years have featured big name pitchers.
  6. Trading Mookie this offseason so you can reset so you can try to sign him for 350 million next offseason seems like a preposterous plan to me, bordering on the rinky-dink.
  7. Trading Price at this year's deadline is an unlikely scenario.
  8. Discussion of the Rule 5 draft just makes my eyes glaze over LOL
  9. Zack Wheeler may be signing soon. His deal is expected to top the $100 million mark. White Sox are making a serious push.
  10. No, the Yanks went over in 2019, so they're in Year Two rates.
  11. They met with Machado last year, too. Will they meet Cole's price is the question.
  12. That's figured in.
  13. Don't go by suckrac. Cot's Contracts has us over by 13.5.
  14. I think we saved more money on Crawford than we would on Price. We only paid Crawford for 2011 and about 3/4 of 2012.
  15. But who is going to take on all that money? It's 60 million for 2020.
  16. What I mean is, the Punto deal was exciting because it shed some real albatrosses. Trading Betts would just be a drag.
  17. But we'll be under the 208!
  18. Good point. The Sox should be selling Joe West t-shirts.
  19. He's responding to the original post in the thread, damn him.
  20. The D dip could have been one of those defensive rating anomalies even the statmeisters warn us about...
  21. Big, but not as exciting as the Punto trade by any means, I don't think.
  22. Agreed, the AAV saving would be healthy. And Myers could certainly bounce back.
  23. I mean, the current buzz is that the offers are not going to be all that juicy.
  24. That was MASSIVE financial relief though...
  25. Whatever they do is a gamble loaded with what-ifs. I presume a lot depends on what actual offers they get him for him this offseason.
