  1. notin has come up with some trade proposals. Also, harmony has quoted Mookie's calculated trade value in $.
  2. A really strange series of transactions was when we traded for Adam LaRoche in 2009, and then traded him away 9 days later.
  3. Plus you want to look at innings pitched, WHIP, K's & BB's etc.
  4. Mookie confirmed that the Red Sox made an offer of 8 years and 200 million-after 2017, I believe. I think that's the only known offer. It was a fair offer. But I can understand him turning it down, because he'll likely get a lot more than that.
  5. It was also a relatively insignificant transaction in terms of the talent changing hands.
  6. That's not my point at all. Slash is speculating that DD 'bid against himself' on JDM. I'm just saying we have no clue who bid what.
  7. Is there a database somewhere that shows all the offers made by teams on free agents? If so, it would be cool to know what the competing offers were on some of these signings by Ben-what he had to beat: Shane Victorino Ryan Dempster Pablo Sandoval Hanley Ramirez Justin Masterson
  8. MLBTR predicted 6/150 for JD. And no one knows what other teams were in on him. We rarely do know these things.
  9. JD was instrumental to the parade. It was an excellent signing by DD, and for a lot less than expected. We can trade JD now if we choose.
  10. I don't see it as unethical here. JD had the freedom to opt in or opt out. He may have opted in simply because Scott Boras advised him that it was better for him financially. The Red Sox have virtually shouted to the heavens that they're trying to cut payroll, and JD already made reference to this himself.
  11. The latest word is that he goes back to see Dr. Andrews around November 15 for a followup exam.
  12. I certainly get that, but I don't think it necessarily was.
  13. The option of trading JD is still on the table, of course.
  14. I'm pretty sure there are no retroactive adjustments, but there are 'true-up' adjustments - which the Yankees are getting because of Chapman's opt-out and new deal.
  15. He's making us wait again, just like before he signed!
  16. These allegations seem a bit odd when you consider how long DD has been around. Maybe he started drinking heavily or something.
  17. I don't think the state of the farm is irrelevant to it-maybe more like a case of killing two birds with one stone. And the hiring of Bloom certainly indicates a whole different team-building approach to DD's.
  18. Howzat?
  19. DD may have 'decimated' the farm, but if you look at each individual trade he made, they all had a pretty specific and justifiable purpose. They were almost all for pitching or for help at the deadline. He did overpay in some cases, no doubt. But he wasn't just throwing assets away for nothing.
  20. Attention, especially of the negative variety, with an underlying theme of 'albatross contract for guy who can't stay healthy and should be a DH'.
  21. I don't disagree, but this is beside the point of who deserves credit for titles.
  22. So now we have no talent at the major league level?
  23. But Kimmi, if we do that we also have to take away a lot of Ben's credit for 2013. The 2013 team was made up of players inherited from Theo plus a few key free agent acquisitions. Why do we have to play the discredit game at all?
  24. The Canadian House of Commons is kind of embarrassing. When someone is talking, they often have a chorus of hecklers from the Opposition.
  25. Something tells me there are a few pejoratives flying around.
