  1. DGale bid us farewell and seems to have meant it, regrettably.
  2. Bloom is clearly looking to trade Price.
  3. I'm just giving you a bit of a hard time about Porcello. I have a feeling he'll have a better season than Perez. But I can see what Bloom is up to and I do think he's a sharp guy.
  4. The indicators seem to be that Mookie will not be traded this offseason.
  5. 60% to be exact. The savings is $4 million.
  6. Are you objecting to my table comparing the numbers from the two sites?
  7. The recent flurry of lucrative signings would appear to suggest that baseball is more flush with cash than ever, and that owners are not trying to suppress salaries. Does this mean all the rumblings of labor unrest and possible work stoppage we were hearing will be quieted?
  8. You were MIA for a little while.
  9. I just posted updated numbers on the budgie thread.
  10. Updated tax numbers per Cot's and Spotrac. The big difference is in the projected cost for minimum wage major league contracts. Spotrac's number is for 20 players @ 585,000. Cot's is only for 10 players @ 575,000. But Spotrac also projects a higher number for minor league players. It's all a bit baffling, even to a budgie. 11. Yep. To the Porcello dismissers, this was a case of 'careful what you wish for'.
  12. You're an idiot.
  13. You're an idiot.
  14. Big extra credit for Godot references.
  15. He said that in reference to the idea of including any prospects to facilitate a trade of Price. My take is that they want to accomplish the payroll cutting without losing prospects in the process. That doesn't equate to a tear down.
  16. They have to trade JBJ and Price, at minimum.

  18. I think this will raise payrolls by about $400K. Major league minimum for 2020 is $563,500. But payroll for tax purposes is based on the 40 man roster. That will now include 14 minor leaguers instead of 15. It looks like minor leaguers on the 40 man make about $150,000.
  19. They ended up going over by 2.5 million.
  20. Would that really be worth it? We gave up an excellent prospect in Buttrey as it was.
  21. Well, those deadline acquisitions they made in 2018 helped them win the World Series, so I'd call that a point.
  22. He also stays healthy and eats innings.
  23. It's been rumored, quite plausibly, that the Yanks will sign Maldonado because of his excellent CERA with Cole.
  24. Sweet, he even got a raise.
