  1. They're still waiting though, right?
  2. The on deck hitter when Posada was up was Giambi. Not even Grady would have let him face Giambi, I don't think.
  3. 100%. And when interviewed about it later, Pedro freely admitted he was surprised that Grady wanted to send him back out for the 8th.
  4. I could not be more confident about my understanding of how it works, because I verified it with the actual taxes the Sox paid for 2018 and 2019.
  5. @PeteAbe Per a major league source, the #RedSox are planning to name bench coach Ron Roenicke as manager but are waiting for MLB to conclude its investigation into the 2018 team before making an announcement.

  7. Correct. Plus the fact that, as we learned later, Theo virtually ordered Grady to get Pedro out of there at 105 pitches or so if it came to that.
  8. It's just like personal income tax brackets. The tax rate applies to the amount within the bracket. http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/competitive-balance-tax
  9. For third year over threshold: 208-228 mill rate is 50% 228-248 mill rate is 62% 248 and over rate is 95%
  10. Hahaha...your fertile mad trader mind never rests...nice touch with the $3 million less for Price.
  11. We have a few good Budgies here.
  12. That's highly debatable. They might kind of like to have Betts and Price now, after all this. And their fans might too. Plus they could just work out a different deal directly with us and boot the Twins.
  13. It seems highly unlikely that a deal of this magnitude would completely fall apart because of Grater-All's issues, which were not entirely unknown to start with.
  14. Look who shows up LOL
  15. I'm guessing the offers they got for Eovaldi were dismal, ones that required us to eat a lot of money. Also Bloom might not want to trade Eovaldi that much. Was it him who signed Eovaldi for the Rays? He might also think we need a hard-throwing right hander in the rotation. I'm just speculating there, really.
  16. Workman is a guy who could definitely fetch something good at the deadline. Relief pitchers are the ones who traditionally get overpaid for at the deadline.
  17. Of course it's not their problem. It's 100% the Twins' problem.
  18. There aren't very many of you true Talksox veterans left.
  19. But the fact is that Verdugo is not a suspected rapist.
  20. Yep. There was one guy whose signature line was a rant about how it was time to put an end to Tito's buffoonery.
  21. I thought the crazy superstitions were ended in 2004.
  22. You're right. Slasher shouldn't have used the word 'mandated' and I should have noted that.
  23. He didn't say anything that can be construed as an outright lie.
