    He's been worth the money so far, but let's acknowledge that the risk factor is crazy. Mike Trout had a foot problem that shelved him for the last part of the 2019 season. If that foot becomes a chronic issue, even Trout will be underwater. (Sorry.)

    Being $120 million apart isn't really a great sign. Someone should mention to Mookie that $120 million is what the much less greedy Bogey settled for!

    The only thing I would say is that Mookie needs to realize he's not as good as Mike Trout. No shame in that, but it's a cold fact.

    The only point being made was about the likelihood of JD opting out at the end of the year.

    We were very fortunate in 2013. A lot of things had to go right and they did. Like Lackey, for example. But that team isn't really a blueprint for success. Especially when you look at what happened the next year.

    If Philly and the Padres can pay $300 million or more for Harper and Machado, someone can definitely pay crazy money for Mookie.

    And they got one year out of Victorino for 39 million. And all those guys were useless in 2014. So those 2013 signings aren't really a great example.
