  1. One semi-interesting question about Castillo is his status with the team for 2021. According to B-R, he's not even arbitration-eligible until 2023.
  2. I've been saying the same thing, but you've heard all the criticism of it.
  3. Even if they kept Betts, I don't think too many people would have been gung ho about the 2020 team's chances to win the division, especially with the Yanks signing Cole.
  4. I've said it before and I'll say it again-when the front office talks to the media they can't possibly win. When Henry was candid about wanting a tax re-set, he got hammered for being too truthful about the plans so other teams could take advantage. Doesn't matter whether you tell the plain truth, or you're evasive, or you lie. It'll get turned against you whatever you say.
  5. Well, it's unfortunate but money rules the game now. There wasn't quite so much complaining about it when the Sox had the highest payroll in the game the last 2 years...
  6. Yeah, it's actually gonna be an interesting season, I think.
  7. Pessimism at this stage is understandable. That sounds a lot like harmony, I know...
  8. Trading Price at the deadline would be no easy matter, he makes 32 mill in both 2021 and 2022.
  9. Every big contract, especially for a pitcher, carries a lot of risk. Being worried about Sale's health is only rational given his recent history.
  10. I think we count as big spenders, since we had the highest payroll in baseball the last two years.
  11. He stays. Just pray for his health.
  12. + Price = 31 mill AAV Eovaldi = 17 mill
  13. I'm seeing a range of reactions here, which is to be expected.
  14. You can't bury trading Mookie Betts and David Price. You just can't.
  15. It's far from being buried, jung. Shaughnessy and other media boys are hard at work today slamming the Sox.
  16. Paying half of Price's money was as good as anyone thought they could do.
  17. Apparently they could cut him and only pay 10% - those are the arbitration rules? Not going to happen though.
  18. I don't think that's the plan at all. They actually have a little money to spend this year now.
  19. No, I think the reason they kept JBJ was because they knew Mookie was quite possibly gone.
  20. You're a mercurial fellow.
