    I know what you're saying, but 400 million will give anyone pause. The biggest contract we've ever given out is Price's 217 million, and now we're trying to dump it. And Mookie wants almost double 217 million.

    Your point has validity. I'm just assuming that Bloom was aware of all this too, and that he had his reasons for not doing the non-tender. Maybe it was because he was fairly sure he would be trading Betts, and he didn't want to also have to deal with the possibility of having to replace JBJ if another team signed him, so he wasn't concerned about a few extra mill.

    I say no too. But 11 mill is not a big overpay IMO.

    FanGraphs projects 2.1 WAR, which would equate to a dollar value of about 17 million.

    FanGraphs and the trade simulator don't seem to think so.

    Personally I think Bloom knows what he's doing with this kind of stuff. He might rate JBJ higher than some of the posters here.

    His 2020 projected fWAR is 2.1. One-year defensive ratings are known to be unreliable. Relax.
