  1. He hasn't been with the Sox for years. And if you don't call constant whining, calling out the FO and fans and choking out a teammate "baggage", then I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. You can be great without being douchey and with a massive ego, like Koji.
  2. Channels inner seabeachfred: Jonathan Papelblows
  3. No he hasn't. And whether or not Dojji agrees with you, doesn't make you right. Papelbon has been paid like he's the best of the best for the duration of his contract, and well, he hasn't been. And what he says about not being a fastball pitcher or bla bla doesn't matter. What matters are results. And his results have not been up to par with a lot of other closers who are making either league minimum or a lot less money. Again, just not that good, no matter what spin you all try to put on him. In fact, we have two closers (barring the health of Koji) on this team who get better results. Go figure.
  4. I like Travis better than Shaw. But that's just me.
  5. Mario Kart 64. Don't even pretend you didn't play it.
  6. Carson comes with a bunch of years of team control, and is a bunch of years younger than Papelbon. Because the world won't end on Dec. 31st, 2016 and we will keep watching baseball in 2017 and beyond, I think that's a point worth considering. Papelbon has longevity on his side, Smith has youth and stuff and comes without the baggage or ego. I'll take the latter for 2016 and beyond.
  7. Dat Hwy is the pitching version of Rainbow Road.
  8. Kopech is a numbskull. Hopefully they can help him with his maturity issues.
  9. So realistically, you could not have Papelbon over Carson Smith. And not only that, I wouldn't believe you if you told me you'd rather have Papelbon than Smith in say, 2019. Papelbon is smack dab in the middle of his decline phase.
  10. I fully trust the peninteary system, and wholeheartedly believe it was just a freak accident. Such a shame indeed.
  11. Apparently that's too much to ask around these parts.
  12. Translation: I was not aroused by Jacko's selfie. Don't worry brother, neither was I. No more pictures from fat people from me.
  13. I thought he was a douche when he was with the Sox, but like Schilling (who pisses me off whenever he opens his mouth about anything not related to baseball or video games) I put up with his s*** because he was part of the team I root for. Not only is he not as good as he used to be, he's a class A diva and a massive tool. Look at his skirmish with Harper for proof (who's also kind of a tool mind you, but that's neither here nor there). I just don't get the adulation for Papelbon. He's not that good anymore, he has a terrible attitude, yet some here would gladly be teabagged by him if given the chance. Just stop.
  14. He needs to whine. That's what's wrong. Hanley will be fine at 1B. No amount of "offseason work" can simulate game conditions, and he wanted to play 1B in winter ball, and the Red Sox were the ones who said no. Stop making stuff up. Porcello's extension hasn't even kicked in. He had a down year. Let him pitch and then we'll know whether or not he was a bust. Pablo is not that fat. Hyperbole much? Saying Castillo "isn't a baseball of any kind" is just another reason why people on this site (even though most people won't dare say it out loud) think you're extremely annoying jung. It's okay to criticize the team, but be fair, be realistic, and most important of all, be goddamned concise. Jesus.
  15. What is it with you and pictures of fat people? Are you fatphobic or something? (After Pablo's year last year though, I wouldn't blame you.)
  16. Pablo: http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/go-be-fat-somewhere-else.jpg Sorry, couldn't help myself, but I honestly think (hope?) he'll be fine (at least won't suck).
  17. That would have been a lot easier for everyone if he had done what the Sox told him to.
  18. "Was" being the operative word.I don't get the current Papelbon worship. He's still good. That's it, just good. Not awesome, not one of the best, just good.
  19. Chapman, Kimbrel, Miller, Melancon, Rosenthal. Davis (and some others) are arguable because of track record, I'll give you that. I just don't get the love affair and glorification of Papelbon, even at this stage of his career.
  20. Men who abuse women/children/the elderly in any way usually get some tough love when they arrive in the slammer, from what I've seen. Jacko's right on this one. And it's usually the cops who'll let the guys running the show inside know there are some "special guests" incoming.
  21. WHIP and BB/9 for all four relievers, last two seasons: Papelbon: 0.96, 1.9 Chapman: 1.06, 4.3 Davis: 0.81, 2.8 Kimbrel: 0.97, 3.6 Papelbon is less likely to give up walks, that is true. But he doesn't "blow anyone out of the water" in anything else, especially not WHIP. And the other three are so much more overpowering in terms of K/9, BAA and hard contact allowed that it's not even fair. Stop making stuff up. You tend to do this whenever you're fixated with a player (usually a member of the Royals) and it's incredibly annoying. What you literally said is that you'd take Papelbon over anyone else in a postseason game (don't try moving the goalposts now) and that's just beyond ridiculous.
  22. The whole "postseason success" thing means jack-all. Papelbon is still an upper-echelon closer, but he's getting up there in age and all three of the pitchers I mentioned (and some I did not) are clearly and unequivocally superior to the current iteration of Papelbon. No amount of long-winded explanations and rationalizations can deny that fact. If you're too much of a Papelbon fan to see that, well that's your problem, but let's stick to reality.
  23. Used to buy it every year, but for some reason the quality has gone to s*** for me. Not worth the money, will have to resort to online streaming sources and cable for the few games we get on ESPN/Fox here. Hilariously, it started sucking AFTER I almost tripled my internet speed. LOGIC!
