  1. That's much more likely next year, because in reality, the Red Sox aren't going to sit $40 million in payroll unless they are both playing below replacement level, and both Travis and Shaw are playing at a very above average level. Next year, with DH opening up, that's an entirely different story.
  2. LF is a hell of a lot easier to fill through any avenue than 2B/3B.
  3. It does, because if Owens breaks out and puts his tools together the way he would in an ideal setting, he's a high-end #3 guy. Wright is what he is, but what he is is serviceable without needing to put anything together. There is a significant difference between both guys in what they could offer right now, and what they can offer in their best-case scenario.
  4. This is like 50 shades of wrong. Wright is a finished product, Owens has way more upside, but needs to get his control issues in check. I just don't understand how you can realistically compare the ceiling of the two guys. If anything, Wright has a lower ceiling but way higher floor.
  5. Two points for the gentleman with the weird nickname and sweet swing.
  6. Genuinely funny, and a suitable reaction too. Two points to the gentleman with the weird taste in music and beers.
  7. Stop.Making.s***.Up.
  8. I'm going to start using your system.
  9. Sometimes, a nugget of brilliance spouts from Jacko that gives us all a false sense of security that he's not just an average Yankees fan. This is one of those times. He'll be back in Yankee fan mode soon, and I'll be ready.
  10. That's also a possibility and makes a ton of sense.
  11. Luckily, we have two of the most athletic catchers in the game, and Hanigan is pretty good at running down pop-ups and fly balls. His lack of speed could be a problem though.
  12. Maybe they'll do a rotation type thing. It would make more sense. Young can spell both Bradley and Ortiz, with Castillo getting the occasional breather too.
  13. But he can spell Ortiz at DH against certain lefties, and there's always the possibility that Castillo flat out sucks and we end up with a sort of Holt/Young platoon.
  14. Preach sister Kimmi!
  15. DV is not a laughing matter. Trying to justify someone's terrible behavior just because he's a professional athlete and plays for your favorite team is one of the lowest things you can do, and it's a big part of the reason why these overpaid jerks think they can get away with everything.
  16. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and I want to commit real domestic violence against you right now.
  17. Platooning JBJ is stupid, I agree. It will stunt his development.
  18. But is it or isn't fact that he wanted to play winter ball to work on his 1B skills? Has the "lazy slacker" not agreed to two consecutive position changes? Did he not play through a shoulder injury last year? Is the coaching staff not raving about his dedication and work at 1B? I mean, when the writing's on the wall, you don't need to make stuff up. Even Pablo's (who's even more polarizing) work ethic can't be called into question (his eating habits can) but some people here insist on doing so! Having an opinion doesn't preclude you from being called out when the opinion is both wrong and contains a number of demonstrably false elements. YOTN correctly called me out yesterday when I said Koji never says anything douchey, and he's right. I don't know what he's saying, I just get fed what the interpreter says.
  19. Sometimes this forum makes me want to take a shot of arsenic. Seriously, people.
  20. Half of it is made-up babble. Don't be so naive. Hanley doesn't wanna play? We're not psychologists here. How the f*** would we know? Jesus Christ people. Hanley was so uninterested in learning first base that he begged the Sox to let him play 1B in winter ball. He just doesn't want to play or improve! What a slacker!
  21. I agree with most of what you say, but forums aren't about spouting unsubstantiated crap. You can make valid points without making stuff up.
  22. Wishful thinking, at best. He had his share of slip-ups (though not that big) while he was still in Boston. Papelbon's attitude is terrible. I'll take Kimbrel with a side of Koji please.
  23. You think he wouldn't have reacted with the same smug douchiness that he did in Philly had he endured last place finishes in 12, 14 and 15 with the Sox? People are who they are.
  24. I love Koji. Don't try to take that away from me with your skepticism. He's awesome and he's not a douche.
