  1. Back to baseball: Another aspect of the Pablo problem is that he comes off as an obnoxious douche in his interviews in both English AND Spanish, which is quite an accomplishment. But as others have said, it's all moot if he doesn't suck. But what can we draw hope from (as Bell said) if he clearly didn't put in the work that was asked from him in the offseason?
  2. jung, do you really need to write a book for every post? I'm interested in reading what you say, but I've been done with textbooks for a while now. Also, you make too much stuff up, and value your "assesments" made from watching tv way too much. You are not a professional scout or talent evaluator.
  3. They dropped him off from the same fatcopter that flies Chris Christie around.
  4. But Hanley dropped 25 pounds of pure muscle. It's not that simple. Hanley's moving to a new IF position, when he's been an infielder all his life. It's not the extra work that's the problem, it's keeping his head in the game. The more distractions he has, the less likely he is to play well. The athleticism and IF experience are there, and he will hit. Health and focus are the issue. Panda's just a fat *******.
  5. Ain't no door gon' float with that much weight on it.
  6. I have a personal resentment towards Pablo's attitude, because I've gotten a more up close look at him this offseason. He was here for the caribbean series, and he was fat, gorging, and avoiding questions about his offseason regime. The guy's attitude is just terrible. Unlike fred, I will root for him to succeed, but I'm not counting on it.
  7. You of all people should know how f***ing hard it is to drop 25 pounds. They asked Hanley to do it. He did it. Pablo did not. I just don't understand the hostility towards the guy when the Sox keep throwing him around like a rag doll.
  8. Then again, he did play a lot of SS, which is a harder position that requires a lot more mobility. 1B is all about keeping your eyes on the baseball. You don't even throw or move (depending on the game) that much. That, however, represents its own set of challenges to someone as prone to mental lapses as Hanley.
  9. With how thin the catcher position is throughout the Majors, having two young, highly projectable C's in the organization battling out for playing time is a luxury no one else in the league can really claim to have.
  10. I don't think they will ever trade him. But if healthy, he will hit.
  11. Pablob sucks. Use Fatso Fatsoval, the official Sandoval nickname here on Talksox.
  12. In fact, when interviewed early in the offseason, the only thing he referred to was his hitting. He said that as long as he hits, everything will be fine. And honestly, that's true, unless he's an absolute train wreck at 1B.
  13. 85-89, compete for a WC spot.
  14. Owens for pitchers, Castillo for position players.
  15. I was looking for this, and hadn't found it. I'll think about it and let you know, but don't worry, it'll merely be a testament to my greatness.
  16. They will make things tough for him either way, and in all honesty, he only has himself to blame.
  17. Henry is an expert at speaking out of both sides of his mouth. He should shut said mouth, and open the checkbook. Letting Theo go because of his attachment to Lucchino is the worst move he ever made.
  18. Considering how f***ing fat he is? Hell yeah he did.
  19. I don't think you quite understand how player development works, especially for a big market team such as the Red Sox. Also, their plan didn't turn into crap until the last two years. It's impossible to sustain long periods of success in today's MLB. You have to at least partially rebuild at some point. When the Sox refused to do that when they had the chance, 2015 happened. Other than that, you're just spouting a whole lot of nonsense Dojji. But the plan was sound, and the execution good (save for some FA mishaps) up until 2013, with certain notable exceptions.
  20. He keeps pounding that drum, although it's incorrect. The plan wasn't even wrong in 2013, it's the follow up that sucked.
  21. Then why the f*** won't Pablo give it back? And I thought that, because you can't turn fat into muscle, you can't do the opposite either. Definitely wrong on that one.
  22. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-c0awd5xkppw/TazecJKNfZI/AAAAAAAAByc/lFpVQC6dr1A/s1600/Thin%2BPanda.jpg He ain't even at 21% here. Let alone right now!
  23. http://www.nerdfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/menbodyfat2.jpg vs. http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/boston-red-sox-third-baseman-pablo-sandoval-throws-the-ball-during-picture-id511718020 17%? Lol no.
  24. ....yet he has done everything the Sox have asked of him, including dropping a ton of weight. How he fares at 1B remains to be seen, but the point that he may not be able to keep his head in the game while DHing is legitimate.
