    Koji is a more effective reliever than pretty much anyone else. The problem is that when the dog days of summer get here, they will have to really put the brakes on his usage. That's another plus of the Kimbrel acquisition. Koji's the best, but his body can't handle a full workload anymore.

    The Young signing was fine. The AL East isn't abundantly lefty-oriented, but has a fair share of power lefty relievers. It's not his roster spot, but rather Farrel's deployment tactic. Besides, a guy who doesn't have platoon issues isn't a 4th OF, he's starting somewhere.

    I try to look at things objectively (I defend Ben, but acknowledge he made mistakes) and I'm a hypocrite? Do you actually know what hypocrite means? I understand that this whole "objectivity" thing is a foreign concept to you, but at least make a conceited effort to not be a blubbering fool on every single post you make. For the record, you were the one trying to pass off what I am clearly stating as an opinion, as if I was trying to state a fact.     He doesn't do the double backstep on any of the homerun swings I have checked. It may be just an approach thing. Jeter would inside out a lot of pitches, but he had a different setup/followthrough for balls he wanted to pull hard. I have the feeling Bogaerts has that 25+ HR bat sleeping inside him, but it will take a while to harness his power. For some guys, it's all about pitch selection: What do you inside out/flare the other way, what do you drive.

    Vasquez is a significantly better defensive catcher than Swihart, full stop. With the pitching issues this team is facing since the ofseason, it is common sense that Vasquez would claim the mantle of #1 catcher. This pitching needs all of the help it can get.
