  1. Is this Bloom finally facing reality that getting JBJ in the first place wss a mistake?
  2. It will be interesting to see which team wins a World Series first, the Phillies or Red Sox. Conversely it will be interesting to see who gets fired first Dombrowski or Bloom. Given the track record of both teams I think it is even money
  3. That may be true but the fact is that is not why Henry fired him. Henry fired him over internal personality issues not over the teams won loss record, state of the farm, or payroll.
  4. I do not anyone would have objected if he hadn't asked the janitor about a trade. It was all the other people he did not consult which pissed off Werner and Henry.
  5. Regarding DD, despite what some may believe, he wss not fired because he over spent or depleted the farm. In both those areas he did exactly what Henry wanted him to do. The reason DD was fired was because he could not align himself with Boston's corporate culture of collegial management. Remember they almost fired him right after the 2018 season as we later learned. Dombrowski was fired because he did not involve his subordinates into his decision making process. And this was anathema to the internal workings of the Red Sox organization.
  6. Games are not real world.
  7. They eventually fired the guy who made the decision to let him go.
  8. This goes along with the Padres having the best broadcaster in the business in Don Orsillo while we are stuck with OB and whatever ex Red Sox NESN can dragoon to sit with him for three plus hours.
  9. The current rumor is that he was Bloom's most vocal critics in the clubhouse. How true that is, is questionable at this point.
  10. As if MLB is the "real world". The reason we enjoy it is because it isn't!
  11. I generally agree with your assessment. Although I do not necessarily say I believe, it but word going around Beantown is that Vazquez was traded because he was Bloom's most vociferous critic in the clubhouse. Has anyone else heard that one?
  12. Bloom has all of John Henry's people skills.
  13. The best line I heard about Bloom was: "He is like the guy at the casino who expects to become a billionaire by playing blackjack at the 5dllr table."
  14. Right now the biggest and most persistent criticism of Bloom heard in and around Boston is that he appears rudderless. Few can devine what his overall plan is. I was generally favorable to his moves in 2021. However, his failure to secure solid back end bull pen help and his decision to part ways with both Hunter Renfroe and Shwarber I found disturbing. To sum up I think my attitude towards Bloom is similar to that of the players and most Bostonians ,disappointed that he failed to improve the team after the 21 season.
  15. There is this fable of a jackass put equidistant between two bales of hay. The jackass starved to death because he could not decide which bale of hay to eat.
  16. In fairness to Bloom he apparently has history with Pham when the latter was with Rays. So this may turn better than I thought earlier. The fact that it is a cash or ptbnl deal makes it more palatable.
  17. The end result is he was they did not like him that much, just like his previous three teams in 4 years. I do not think he will be around Boston for very long as well.
  18. That's why they traded him.
  19. The fact that he has played for 4 teams in 4 years and is quoted this past year as saying all he cares about are his own numbers is all one needs to know.
  20. Baseball is supposed to be family entertainment. Look at Pham's record. He is clubhouse poison. Moreover if I were the Jimmy Fund and the Children's Hospital I would not let McGuire in the front door. These two moves are PR disasters and will both end badly. Leopards do not change their spots and neither do sex offenders.
  21. The arrest and conviction are enough. Since the arrest he has been moved twice in two years. That and the arrest is all one needs to know. Like I said this acquisition is indefensable..
  22. What makes no sense is bringing two well known problem children Pham and McGuire into that clubhouse. There were numerous reports of how clubhouse morale was in the dumpster before the Vaz trade. I fail to see how adding these two seriously flawed characters makes things better.
  23. I don't know how you arrived at that conclusion. A sample of Boston sports radio this morning indicates that fans especially seasons ticket holders are bull s*** over yesterday trades.
  24. Mancini is role model and character guy in addition to being a good player. Bloom doesn't go in for character guys.
