  1. I will never forgive Manfred for his abolishing the legacy minor leagues thus erasing over a hundred years of baseball history.
  2. And players too!
  3. This only confirms my longstanding opinion that Manifred is bad for baseball. I am sure this won't be his last bonehead move.
  4. I must say I think you are on to something about Duran. Unless he can turn it around with fantastic spring and have a breakout season, I see him as the classic 4A ballplayer, a triple A star who can not hit major league pitching with mediocre defense.
  5. The do overs in life are not because a machine tells us to.
  6. Aren't you the smug one to presume to know what my previous interest in the NFL was. BTW I did tie the use of instant replay football to Robo umps. And I never said or implied that all technology in sport was a bad thing per se. which is typical hyperbole on your part. But I happen to believe they went too far in pro football and are about to do the same in MLB.
  7. Reviewing ones own work is not the same as having an outside entity. The fact is we make thousands of instantaneous decisions daily. In life we don't get do overs.
  8. Wrong most decisions a human being makes daily are reviewed by no one and are not changed. For example you just made a decision to write what you wrote. No one reviewed it or changed what you wrote.
  9. It was not irrelevant ask any police officer or any one in authority who is called upon to make split second decisions. What is irrelevant is I was talking about football not baseball. Specifically we were discussing why I lost interest in the NFL and I said it was it because of the instant replay.
  10. Nether is the norm in daily life. If you stop and think about it the normal human being makes thousands of decisions daily.
  11. Not the same. What you wrote stays in the computer and cyberspace. Deleting a pre recorded message is nothing different from erasing message written on paper. In both cases there is a record, there is an effect of the original action despite how one tries to undo it. My point there are no do overs in life.
  12. Talk about distorting what I wrote and getting everything ass backwards. As I said we don't get to use instant replay in our daily interactions. We don't get mulligans except on the golf course and that is not kosher. I lost interest in the NFL because of its increased use of technology and the resulting increased stoppages of play. I really do not give damn what the NFL does because I have lost all interest in professional football. If the NFL wants to go to Robo refs more power to them. I could care less.
  13. Apples and oranges. Courts do not make instant decisions, court proceedings are meant to be deliberative and time consuming.
  14. The cops do not get to see the footage before making a decision.
  15. There are way too many stoppages in American football. It has become tedious to watch.
  16. Again you miss the point. We do not get instant replay in our daily interactions with life. Cops, soldiers in combat etc do not have the benefit of instant replay for example.
  17. Life does not work that way. Why should the games we play?
  18. No I became disenchanted with football because of replays.
  19. I spent most of the 80s overseas. By the time I returned football became less interesting. Quite frankly I find the NFL now intensely boring. I began to follow Rugby Union. After becoming a Rugby Union fan American football is truly dull as dishwater.
  20. Speak for yourself. Instant replay in football killed that sport for me. I only watch the super bowl now and only if New England is playing.
  21. Actually it is the reverse. One could reasonably make a cogent argument that baseball would never even consider Robo umps were it not for the fact that it opened the door to technology based umpiring by adopting instant replay
  22. I can understand why Eck does not want to do it all the time. Can you imagine being stuck with Dave O'Brien alone an entire baseball season?
  23. Nope. My grandkids don't give a damn what you post either.
  24. Typo but the fact is I wasn't wrong. The robo ump MLB is using is two dimensional. It remains to be seen whether it can satisfy all MLB stakeholders. I suspect this will be a significant issue in the CBA.
