  1. I am. Henry has a real problem with his Boston fans. Selling Bogaerts without a major return of a unequivocal star player will really turn off Sox local fans. He has to remember he is competing with the Patriots, Celtics and Bruins for the hearts and minds of local fans. Right now most local fans are not happy with Henry's economy moves especially in view of his reported interest in helping Lebron James obtain an NBA franchise.
  2. The Sox are serious. They are in their yellow uniforms.
  3. Cora is and always has been a laissez-faire manager. He can take a highly motivated team and add value However he historically has been unable and unwilling to adequately prepare his ball clubs. He defers to the players on that score He does not come from the more you sweat in practice the less you bleed in combat school of thought. Those who absolve Cora any role in the current state of affairs can not also absolve Bloom. IMO both are equally culpable. This club is reminding more and more like the pre 1967 Red Sox.
  4. Cora has failed to prepare his teams in the past. He is guy who can manage self motivated players. These guys are not motivated nor mentally prepared. The latter is on the manager.
  5. Cora has to bear the brunt for not having his team mentally prepared to play.
  6. Bloom put himself in this mess. He knew the parameters before he accepted the job.
  7. Agreed. It does not matter who wins the ALE or by how much. What matters is which team has the healthiest pitching staff and roster in late September. The Yankees rotation did not suffer any significant injuries thus far. Can this continue. We will see.
  8. That is because he has no life outside posting on baseball forums.
  9. I wonder if the Canadian government would lift the vaccine mandate for the playoffs. Somehow I doubt it.
  10. This could get very interesting if the Blue Jays make the playoffs and or the World Series. Can you imagine the reaction if a player makes himself ineligible to play in the World Series?
  11. Since it is unlikely that anyone posting on a baseball forum would have any direct contact with ERod to know with any degree of reliability whether his physical environment ie ,playing location, is a contributing factor to whatever is affecting him. That being said it is a well documented fact that physical environment can play a significant role in adversally affecting an individuals emotional health. A fact of life that most individuals who have jobs that require moving frequently kow all too well. Some people can thrive in new environments, others do not. In my experience I was surprised by those who adjusted well and by those who did not.
  12. My bad ! If Bogey fails to re-sign and Story moves to short then we may see Duran at 2nd.
  13. For some reason the Red Sox under Bloom love to move players out of their natural positions. It remains to be seen how effective that strategy is over the long term.
  14. I have for the longest time thought Devers would play gold glove quality defense at 3rd base since the vast majority of his errors were throwing errors caused by hurrying his throws. For what it's worth I agree that Duran is not a centerfielder. I think he could play an adequate 2nd base however.
  15. I believe the quality start was a stat created by the Boras Corporation as a negotiating strategy in a an effort to get his starters.better deal once he saw the increased use of the bull pen.
  16. O fortunatos nimium sua si bona norint, agricolas Virgil
  17. I clearly remember Buddin letting balls hit right at him through between his legs. I think he was the worst shortstop that I have ever seen.
  18. One Boston sportswriter said Buddin's nickname was E-6.
  19. Saw him in ST. He would not have been my choice to make this team.
  20. That was a few seasons ago. We used to go to Camden Yards regularly but the situation has changed in the last couple of years. Even the inner harbor and the area around Camden Yards isn't as safe as it once was. Like I said a close friend had a townhouse within a few blocks of Camden Yards that he had owned since he first started work in Baltimore over than thirty years ago. His wife wanted out after he was mugged twice within a month.
  21. The original purpose of raising Baltimore was to point out why the state funded the Ravens and Orioles Stadiums. BTW a friend of mine recently sold his townhouse located a short walk from Camden Yards, Ravens Stadium and the inner harbor after being mugged twice in a month outside his home while walking his dog. I.told him to get a bigger dog but his wife had had enough.
  22. Baltimore's corruption is endemic. No city has its record of persistent corruption. Baltimore is one of Americas most dangerous cities. Its violent crime rate is over 300 percent above the national average. I used to regularly attend meetings downtown. The route in and out of the office was through whole city blocks of abandoned and dilapidated row houses. I used the same driving techniques as I used in war torn San Salvador during the civil war there in the late eighties. Look at how Baltimore keeps losing population every year as further proof that it is a shithole.
  23. I think it depends on the city. Some communities vote for them, some do not. In St Pete's Fl. case I can understand why they don't. In Maryland's case, I understand why they did. Baltimore is a disaster. They felt they had to to save the city. But the corruption, incompetence and crime is too overwhelming. I have been in third world cities that aren't as bad.
  24. Catherine Pugh former mayor three years Federal Prison fraud, Shelia Dixon former mayor indicted for stealing funds from the needy. Marilyn Mosley current Baltimore State Attorney indicted federal fraud charges, I could go on but all have to do is Check Baltimore WBFF recent story on Baltimore's grim history of corruption. After retiring from the foreign service I spent 17 years in a senior position in Maryland State Government.. Baltimore is a shithole. And only getting worse.
