  1. Jeter Downs is not ready to be a regular major leaguer. He needs another couple hundred ABs in Worcester. Because of injuries the Sox are bringing guys up too soon.
  2. I am not waiting for miracles but just a return to some level of competence. The majority of Bloom's acquisitions since he has come to Boston cause a proverbial horde of fans and baseall writers to question Bloom's competence.
  3. "Selfish desires" I guess it is a mortal sin to want your team to win according to high priest Moon.
  4. That attitude explains why Bloom is not up to the job.
  5. Because Friedman was the conductor and Bloom first violin.
  6. It doesn't matter why. He has no experience punto.
  7. If one takes a look back at Blooms career, he has no track record of pursuing HOF talent . His forte is improving at the margins. The analogy of the gambler who plays at the $5 blackjack table expecting to become Elon Musk is an apt one.
  8. His numbers are declining yearly. By next year he may be worth 2 dimes.
  9. Best line of the day is from Chad Finn, who wrote that the Bloom trade of Betts was "A dollar bill for a quarter, a random loose button and a bottle cap"
  10. With Sale, it isn't the salary it is the medical bills and insurance premiums that will kill you!
  11. I think Bloom the bungler has the only team "with a shoe string budget" to use your term who not only exceeds the lux tax but misses the playoffs. No wonder every one is confused including ownership.
  12. You are right for Bungling Bloom to produce a winning team would be a miracle. Here is my prediction. Bloom was not hired to produce winning teams. He was hired to reduce spending. This by the way he failed to do by still exceeding the lux tax. Once Henry is finished buying his NBA team, he will fire Bloom and hire a winner which Bloom is not.
  13. Bloom likes guys who can fill multi roles, none exceptionally well.
  14. I think you misspelled the word. It is spelled oblivious.
  15. Damn if I know! Ask Moon ?
  16. I think you just gave the best description of what Bloom's plan is.
  17. Yes it is always bad to give customers what they want. The ignorant peasants do not know what is good for them.
  18. So! Merloni's show is NOT losing ratings or audience as you implied.
  19. Sounds like the Braves are playing a home game. I guess there are few of the old knot hole gang still around.
  20. I remember that broadcast. I think Henry still has not recovered.
  21. You obviously did not read the article. Yes WEEI is 3rd now but last winter it was 7th and Merloni seems to doing better than the rest of their programming ".In afternoon drive (2-6), The Sports Hub’s “Felger & Mazz” program earned a massive 24.6 share to finish first. WEEI’s “Merloni, Fauria, and Mego” finished third (6.0, including 0.1 for the stream). That show added Meghan Ottolini as a full-time host in early May and did see some improvement over its winter ratings (4.2, sixth). In the winter, The Sports Hub took first (16.3), while WEEI was seventh (4.4). In spring 2021, The Sports Hub was first (15.2), while WEEI was tied for sixth (4.2)."
  22. No they just start talking about other sports. It is the Red Sox ratings that are tanking.
  23. Except when Spier actually quotes Bloom his first paragraph would fit the definition of hearsay. When I last checked this is not a courtroom. Lou Merloni who has excellent sources within the Red Sox said ownership. Spier largely supports what Merloni reported. He certainly did not refute it. Now you can draw your own conclusions. That said the unreputable fact is that the Red Sox exceed the lux tax and will not make the playoffs. The Red Sox could have not made the playoffs and avoided paying the lux tax but Bloom failed to properly plan to achieve that goal. Merloni believe that ownership is confused by that. Now I will purely speculate but I can imagine Henry or Werner or both calling Chaimto their Executive Suite and asking "Please Explain"
  24. Merloni specifically said ownership. Spier who is Henry's employee may simply be using the standard euphemism that reporersts use to not name sources. Merloni not being a Henry employee nor a Globe reporter may feel he does not need to use such a device.
  25. Spier is repeating what Merloni reported the day before. It was Merloni who spoke about the lux tax issue and how ownership was questioning going over the lux tax and still not contending etc.
