This club in 21 was two games from the world series. A reasonable fan and player was justified in thinking the head of baseball operations would plan to actually improve the club in 22. Instead Bloom weakened that club.
Both fans and players are justified in thinking that Bloom let them down. Some players may actually feel betrayed by Bloom especially if Bloom had led them to believe he actually intended to produce a competitive team in 22.
If Bloom intended to concentrate on rebuilding the farm system he was not successful by his own terms .
He failed to stay below the lux tax and going from 24 to 19 in farm systems is hardly a ringing achievement.
It should be obvious to ownership that the club's future in more uncertain now then it was after the 21 season. Over the lux tax, seeing once vaunted prospects such as Duran and Downs stumble, and having probably alienated Bogaerts and possibly Devers too why should Henry trust Bloom to get the club out of the mess he created.
How long will ownership stay with Chaim? I don't see anyone in Beantown rushing to his defense except a couple of diehards on this board, none of whom currently live in Boston.
