  1. I did not realize that Kyle Lohse is a free agent next year. I have watched him a few times this year and liked what I saw.
  2. I will admit, I had posted I thought Valentine was the right choice. Im sure I was not the only one, but I will admit I was wrong. While he obviously did not work out, I think he was only a very small part of the suck ass ness of the Sox.
  3. I guess I knew this was coming, I agree it was the right thing to do- but I do not find myself the least bit excited. Does this make the team any better next year? I do not care who they hire as the next manager, with the current pitchers we have we will still be a bunch of losers next year. If any of the current players did not perform well because they did not like Bobby then they also to go as they are to fair weathered to build around.
  4. Later Bobby!
  5. I wonder if we have $ and or players to get Kansas to part with Billy Butler. That would make a good first baseman in our lineup.
  6. So who is everyone going to cheer for in the playoffs. I think I would like to see the A's make a run. Not sure on the NL side.
  7. Do we have any other great AAA hopes beside Lav's and Iggy???? I think random people from the crowd would be as effective with the bats. Wow we are in tough shape for a few years I fear.
  8. Has there been anything official about Pedro getting hired?
  9. YES! I can drive to Coors field in 7 hrs.
  10. Any chance we can break this up into several threads.... one for infielders, one for outfielders, starters, bullpen, etc......?
  11. I liked Valentine, just think this was the perfect storm for him to fail. I hope he finds a college team to head up. The guy loves baseball and seems to work well with young players. But yes he needs to go, if only because a complete new direction needs to start.
  12. I would have no problem saying Nava does not belong. But I like what I saw out of Sweeney. But if we agree on everything but one player that is pretty sweet, lol.
  13. I really believe our everyday players are good enough to be a good team. Put Ortiz, Middlebrooks, and Sweeney back in and its a decent team. First base is a question, but maybe Gomez will surprise. We need two great pitchers added to the rotation. 1. Ace 2. Ace or darn close 3. Clay Buch. 4. Lester 5. Dubront. 6. Let Lackey, Morales and whoever fight out for this. CF. Ells SS. Ciriaco 2B. Pedroia 3B. Middlebrooks DH. Ortiz LF. Ross 1B. Gomez?????? RF. Sweeney C. Lavs / Salty backup infielder Aviles Several backup outfielders, Pods, Nava...... With a bad rotation of pitchers this is not a good enough lineup. Add a couple great starters this lineup can compete just fine. Should be a very very interesting off season.
  14. Maybe Larry David is going to buy the team.
  15. Pizza and beer sound right! But here I am trying to drop a few pounds. No pizza and watching this Sox team:angry:
  16. I think Pods may be a guy that defies traditional age numbers a bit. I think he will be a solid player for another two to three years. I like the odds of him being a solid outfielder for a few years then the odds of an unproven kid in the minors. Yes we need to develop young players, and a professional guy that works really hard, and does not appear to be an entitled princess is a guy I want the young players around.
  17. I was being a bit sarcastic. In all seriousness I'm sticking with Sox.
  18. I am not willing to wait. I give them one month next season and if they do not turn things around I will become a big fan of the Dodgers, maybe Nats.....I am in the vetting process now. I may just find a new sport altogether, that Phelps guy would be a fun swimmer to root for.
  19. Most of you guys know more baseball history than I. Has anyone Ever held the position of manager and GM at the same time?
  20. Nice at bat Mike.
  21. Yaz was well before my time, but what I read it sounds like he was a flat out ball player and competitor that would have found a way to succeed anywhere on the field.
  22. Wow, it sure was. That was sweet.
