  1. Baseballreference.com. go to a pitchers info,, under standard pitching select splits then chose what year you want to look at, results by catcher are towards the bottom. I promise I did not make the up any numbers or lie about anything.
  2. Thing is every time we go through this exercise I do look up numbers and nobody responds when they do not show Salty in a bad light. I just asked if you would acknowledge a series of clear facts, just a few posts ago I showed how the era's by the season have Saltys 2011 numbers the same as everyone else's catching Lester. I clearly pointed out the error of comparing staff era's when they did not catch the same staff. I was the only one that posted all the 2012 era's with both catchers and showed that as many did the same or better with Salty than with Shop. People ignore numbers I look u trying to show a more fair comparitive, last time I was accused of cherry picking numbers ..... so I guess I do not understand why the whole Salty makes everyone's era higher.....when I have showed it is not true..... keeps coming up again and again. To believe "the staff" has a higher era with Salty you have to ignore a bunch of key facts and compare Apple's to oranges.
  3. But would you acknowledge that who Salty caught and how often he caught is not at all comparable to Tek in 2011? Would you acknowledge that Salty caught all year in 2012 when the pitchers fell off the cliff and Shop was not even on the team then? Would you acknowledge the only pitcher that Shop and Salty caught comparable innings in 2012 was Beckett..... and he had a better era with Salty? Would you acknowledge that Lester and Buchs had good era's to Salty in 2011? Answer this.... do you think Teks 2011cera would have been better then Salty if he caught all of Wakes games? Or if Tek caught all of injured Lackeys games? Would you acknowledge that in 2011 Salty caught 127 innings with Lackey while Tek only caught like 30 innings of Lackey? Do you honestly draw a conclusion with cera knowing Salty had to catch all those Lackey and Wake innings while Tek about pretty much exclusively caught Beckett? How can you compare staff era when they were not catching the same staff?
  4. You should overlook it. In the past three seasons 4 of the above mentioned catchers only caught around 40 innings of Lester. In 2011 Lavs only caught 6 games. I think Cash only caught Lester for a two year period for a whopping 4 games. Is it fair at all to use such small sample sizes to compare to full time catchers? I think it is only fair to look at his full time catchers year by year that are behind the plate for 140 plus innings. 2007 Tek. 4.74 2008 Tek. 3.06 2009 Tek. 3.92 2010 V Mart. 3.64 2011 Salty 3.77 Now looking at the numbers to that point Salty was not his best or worst year, Those both belonged to Tek. up to this point, but you can see Salty had a full season with Lester that produced an era consistent with all the other catchers. Is someone going to deny that? So yes 2012 Salty and Lester had a bad era, but if the era's above are correct..... and they are, then 2012 is Lester' s fault. If Lesters 2012 era was so much to blame on Salty then one would expect all the pitchers to have done worse with Salty..... and that simply was not the fact in 2012, as some pitchers pitched better to Salty. I know nobody likes Salty, and I don't think the guy is a very good player, but to compare his CERA to other catchers that only caught a handful of games is not fair or accurate.
  5. I am getting so anxious for some baseball!
  6. No personal outrage, lol. I generally agreed with you. For some odd reason Arty Spooners "how dare you" jumped into my mind as the reaction of Sox fans to you saying something negative about Tek.
  7. I thought he hit well through most of May, and didn't he have a concussion at the end of May? Not arguing, seriously asking????
  8. What makes some defensive positions a "power position" and others not?
  9. Certainly possible.
  10. Does being a poor home run hitter automatically mean you are a bad player..... let alone a bench fill in guy?
  11. I am not as down as everyone on Sweeney. Seems like I remember him playing decent defense and his bat was on fire April - May. Wasn't he one of the best hitters on the team for that time? I think he had a concussion when his numbers started to decline. As a bench guy to step in for a few starts through the year I think he is a good pick up for the money. He is a career .280 hitter.
  12. Why not...... I'm in on the optimism . So my two big predictions are that SFF is correct and the Sox have a good year making the post season. Secondly, I break the 1000 post mark this year.
  13. Let's hope!
  14. Well said. I agree 100%.
  15. If I am a gm or manager and that 16 mill. is getting lit up, losing games, wearing out my defense and demoralizing the team game after game...... then I see the 16 mill. worth more sitting on the bench. The money is spent either way.
  16. I would sure like to see Morales stretched into more of a regular starter should one of the starters get hurt or perform poorly. He is pretty young, throws as hard and aggressive as anyone we have, and had a great era with Salty if I remember correctly (could be wrong just going off memory) I saw no reason to think he could not give more innings.
  17. Darn you! Starting to give me hope.
  18. Me and my wife stayed in Boston for a week last summer. You definitely want a week long pass that covers trains, t line, and buses. I think they cost us under$20 bucks a piece. Walking around Boston is also fun and easy, it's smaller geographically then I thought. For inexpensive lodging I am a big fan of airbnb.com . Have fun!
  19. Try telling that to the club house wall.
  20. If we needed a young prospect type at 1st base that can hit for power Sands was it.
  21. I would not mind seeing Lars on our roster.
  22. hmmmm..... I need to know what my monthly payments would be.

    Uptons

I've never been a fan of BJ or Justin. But that must be very cool for them and their family to have brothers playing on a mlb team together.
