  1. Yes for sure... my post we assuming all thing equal with their health. But that does make it more interesting... I think they are about the same age.... Bregman's body looks like its better designed to endure... and Devers has these should issues... so ????? Of course very little of this matters if Bregman takes off to a different team next year- then we've blown up our 3B position for very little long or mid-term value. Another reason I'm probably inclined to keep Devers at 3B. If Bregman is wanting to extend and be under Sox control for a few years... maybe you consider blowing the roster up a little more for him... but he's only committed to being a one year piece... so ???
  2. If it's me and I'm in charge... I'm likely leaving Devers on 3rd. Yes Bregman is much better defensively at 3rd and it would make the team better. But fortunately for us we have 2B- and probably SS (as soon as Story gets his annual season ending injury) which we can say the same the same thing about. .. Bregman makes us a better defensively anywhere he plays. Watching most games last year.... I honestly felt like Devers played better defensive then he usually does (albeit low bar). But most games 3rd base felt serviceable. now the middle infield drove me nuts... never felt like we had big league players manning those spots. Moving Devers creates a weird domino effect- forcing Yoshida into playing outfield.... which makes us worse defensefily. Rafaela, Abraeu, and Duran make up a solid, good defense. I don't want to see them platooned or splitting time as a back up or occasion DH guy. I didn't end the last few years feeling.... we need to fix the outfield, or 3B... I ended it wanting better D up the middle infield, and more sustained pitching. Focus the roster on those things. I think Bregman is a better option at 3rd than Devers- but in context of the dominos that would happen (not to mention the drama) I think the team overall is better with Bregman at 2nd.
  3. If Rocket looks good in that bp contest... Sox should sign him again.
  4. Wow... what are the odds you give up 13 hits, and win.??
  5. Ok boys... close this game out now.
  6. Here here... but also- I wonder.... were there really bad teams before expansions? Maybe do like English soccer... expand by brining up two minor league teams... and the two worst MLB teams at the end of the year get regulated down to AAA.
  7. It's got to be so rough being on a team like the A's... getting beat up on and losing so much.
  8. I really do like having a good bat in the 9 spot... I think it's wise. But to your question- I have no idea.
  9. I don't think you will find anyone arguing that.
  10. I heard everyone wanting Bello sent down.... here's his chance to shine against a AAA team.
  11. I was giving him credit for a decent start? And c'mon... you can't really equate two recent wins against a really good team to mean the Marlins are some sort of quality offense? It's baseball... anything can happen- and often does. But if the Phillies and Marlins play tomorrow... I'm willing to bet most of us would bet on the Phillies- even though Miami recently played well against them.
  12. Good for Bello.... decent outing. He's been really bad... good to take advantage of a bad team and get himself feeling a little better.
  13. Wow... been a while since I did a game thread... Here I thought we've had a great June... were 8.5 from 1st- in clear contention for a wild card spot.... watching what I think is Cora's best year managing...... Bello battling and looking ok.. AND WE ARE AHEAD.... yet the chatter on here sounds like we are a basement team. C'mon all- turn those frowns upside down! I promise if you enjoy the moment you won't explode.
  14. Lol- well while I am from Wyoming.. nobody has ever accused me of being a cowboy.
  15. I hope he has the talent.... haven't seen much to convince me. I HATE playing guys that aren't playing well just because we committed a bunch of money to them.
  16. Been a while since I did joined a game thread. Figured I"d see if there any good conversation going on- I fear Bello will not provide much positive discourse... but here is to hoping he turns thing around... this is the team to find your stuff against.
  17. Well, at least we have been instrumental in turning things around for both the Ray's and Cardinals.
  18. Maybe tomorrow... who knows... while I do like Cora, I think he moves pieces around too much.
  19. He made up for it with that pick off throw to 2nd. Everything averages out.
  20. Grissom and Hamilton there really showing off the defensive prowess of the Sox
  21. I have a fear all things are coming back to reality. I think for a while as fans of this team- we were experiencing the pretty girl across the room looking deep into our eyes and waving at us...... the past couple weeks we are realizing she was looking at another guy standing right behind us. Well heck- it felt good while it lasted.
  22. But wouldn't necessarily make things right.
  23. I suppose that's true; however, just watching the game tonight it didn't feel like an upgrade at 1B.
  24. Indicating to me that much like last year this team can over-preform half way through the season... and owners won't spend a penny to help them out.
