  1. Thought you were a Cubs fan now. What happened? You saw the Sox on a roll and decided to crawl back?
  2. We're 14-7 since hitting rock bottom on June 15th.
  3. So we just need to get into the playoffs. Then everyone will start loving him.
  4. If Holt gets traded, I'm never rooting for this team again. Hold me to that.
  5. Hey, have some faith. My mojo has been pretty good this year. It's responsible for two 3 game win streaks (as of now) in the last month.
  6. So now we just have to keep winning. If it takes a comeback, we'll do it. If it takes a walk-off, we'll do it. If it takes a Porcello quality start...........We'll do it....Maybe. These guys aren't intimidating at all. We need to handle them. I would love to see some run support for our man Porcello, to make things a lot more comfortable. Just keep gaining ground, and just keep winning series. What's the only way to win a 2 game series? With a sweep. Bring out those brooms, folks, because we will need to sweep up the Marlins' sweaty ashes after this game. Why will they be sweaty? Because the weather (at least in CT, not sure about Boston) is as close to Miami weather as we can get, hot, humid, and chance for a random thunderstorm, and the Marlins aren't used to it, since they play indoors. They won't be sweaty from the effort they put in tonight, that's for sure. RHP Tom Koehler (7-4, 3.52) vs RHP Rick Porcello (4-9, 6.08) Red Sox (40-45): Betts CF Holt 2B #XforASG SS Ortiz 1B Ramirez DH Sandoval 3B Victorino RF De Aza LF Hanigan C
  7. They're in 3rd, 9 games above .500, and 7.5 games out. The Red Sox are in last, 5 games under .500, and 5 games out.
  8. If we get above .500 by the end of the month, I will regret making this thread.
  9. Yeah, and the rest of the AL East is getting even tighter. The O's are being routed, and the Rays may lose twice today.
  10. Papelbon wants out of Philly to go to a contender. I wouldn't call us that yet, but he might consider coming back.
  11. Reminds me of 2013, when I came to the conclusion that I love that DIRTY WATER!!
  12. Yeah that was my bad. If it is an illegal pitch, it's a ball, and with runners on base, it's a balk.
  13. This guy isn't legal, but if they were to call him on it, they would just have to redo the pitch and make him throw it on the rubber.
  14. For all you pessimists out there, let me introduce you to a team. This is a team that it at war with their owners, more many reasons, but most recently, the hiring of their previously inexperienced manager, Dan Jennings, earlier this season. This is a team that is in even worse shape than our Red Sox. Y'all keep saying how bad the Sox are, with Cherington's dumbassery and Farrell's mismanaging. But hey, the Marlins have problems on all levels. Of course, with their owners, of course with their manager's experience levels, or lack thereof, and the players. In 2012, this franchise reintroduced themselves as the Miami Marlins, with a new complex color scheme and a brand new stadium with fish tanks behind home plate. At least they got out of the football stadium. But where did they go wrong? After 2007. Dumping Miggy was the worst mistake in their relatively short lifespan, and its been downhill since. They tried to get themselves a dream team, signing Jose Reyes and Mark Buerhle, but that didn't end well. It's part bad luck and part awful decisions in the front office. Mainly the latter. So, now here we are for a quick two game set in Boston, and we caught a break. No Giancarlo. No Jose Fernandez (in the series). All they have left is Dee Gordon. One thing the Marlins have shown is that one guy can win you a handful of games in a season. But the two guys that do that will not be seen on the field in this series. I'm sorry, Dee, but your amazing speed can only do so much. Yes, I know you have the best average in the NL, but unless you hit dingers like Giancarlo, you can't do it yourself. RHP Dan Haren (6-5, 3.45) vs LHP Wade Miley (8-7, 4.53) Come on now. It's Dan Haren.
  15. What did Holt even get in as? A second baseman?
  16. That was your typical Cubs-Cards game.
  17. With the reserves announced, I now have 3 more: Pollock, Martin and Betances. I also have Bogaerts and Cespedes, who are in the final vote.
  18. So, we're not gaining any ground in the wild card standings tonight, or for the whole week. The O's and Twins are playing each other, the two teams tied for the 2nd WC spot.
  19. I've already voted for Xander twice. I'm also ecstatic that Pollock is an NL reserve.
  20. Serena vs Venus was almost as disappointing as Mayweather vs Pacquiao. I stopped watching after the first set to go play golf.
  21. Are you talking World Series, or in general? I would love to do research to prove you wrong either way.
  22. Will do. Never again. You are right. We must never give up. One thing that would be nice is another "Tessie," a song that forms our rallying cry and propels us to the point that we all know we can get to.
  23. Yep. And I'm sure you'll agree that it always a good thing to have some Thunder mojo on our side. But you hit the nail on the head. It may seem like the Yankees are rolling right now, but they certainly aren't going to go on a tear to really run away with it. The AL East winner will likely clinch on one of the first 4 days of October, the last 4 days of the season.
