For all you pessimists out there, let me introduce you to a team. This is a team that it at war with their owners, more many reasons, but most recently, the hiring of their previously inexperienced manager, Dan Jennings, earlier this season. This is a team that is in even worse shape than our Red Sox. Y'all keep saying how bad the Sox are, with Cherington's dumbassery and Farrell's mismanaging. But hey, the Marlins have problems on all levels. Of course, with their owners, of course with their manager's experience levels, or lack thereof, and the players. In 2012, this franchise reintroduced themselves as the Miami Marlins, with a new complex color scheme and a brand new stadium with fish tanks behind home plate. At least they got out of the football stadium. But where did they go wrong? After 2007. Dumping Miggy was the worst mistake in their relatively short lifespan, and its been downhill since. They tried to get themselves a dream team, signing Jose Reyes and Mark Buerhle, but that didn't end well. It's part bad luck and part awful decisions in the front office. Mainly the latter. So, now here we are for a quick two game set in Boston, and we caught a break. No Giancarlo. No Jose Fernandez (in the series). All they have left is Dee Gordon. One thing the Marlins have shown is that one guy can win you a handful of games in a season. But the two guys that do that will not be seen on the field in this series. I'm sorry, Dee, but your amazing speed can only do so much. Yes, I know you have the best average in the NL, but unless you hit dingers like Giancarlo, you can't do it yourself.
RHP Dan Haren (6-5, 3.45) vs LHP Wade Miley (8-7, 4.53)
Come on now. It's Dan Haren.
