Well, I'll watch the game if I stay awake. I just played 18 holes of golf, and have a baseball game later on. Bad choice on my part to play golf.

Yes, and than could really open things up a bit. Of course, a few years down the road, there's Benintendi, or more immediately JBJ and Rusney, but there seems to be a surplus of young ourfielders throughout the league. The right trade could pay huge dividends in that department. For those who want Pablo to move to 1B, we could use someone like a Shaw to establish even more of a young core.

But he's really picked it up of late. I hate to say it, but he's on his last leg. I'm thinking next year will be his last.

I'm waiting for Bochy to put Pollock in. Our HS coach is there, and I'm sure he would love to see him play. Of course, he still got to chat with him during BP.

I do suppose Gallardo is available, but I don't want to see him come here. And I guess if the Orioles struggle out of the break, Chen could go too.

The problem with that, however, is that 5 of those guys are on teams that are definitely not sellers. I'm sure the White Sox would make Samardzija available for the right price, but other than that, the other two that are almost sure to be dealt are Cueto and Kazmir, since Billy Beane is not going to trade Gray.

I certainly expected the pitching to struggle, albeit not as bad as it is and as bad as I commented on. I knew there were a lot of question marks. And, now that Hanigan has come back, overall, I've seen improvements, if not tiny steps forward. And don't act like it's a bad thing to have your opinion changed. I'm humble enough to realize when I'm wrong and correct myself, when faced with accurate and correct facts that I hadn't thought of.

Just read on ESPN that Cueto is #1 target for Astros. They have much more young talent than us to offer...

Well, I for one, have refrained from saying that because I know that when our offense is on, we can beat most any pitcher. We've beaten Felix, Sonny Gray, Garrett Richards, all in the month of May no less. Those were the rare games in May when the offense stepped up to back the awful pitching.

For most of this argument, I've been on Kimmi's side, but you're starting to sway me because I realize the fact that this is a bad team. It isn't really possible for a bad team to be in 1st. That is the one hole with your argument, Kimmi. Until reading this post, I had clung to the idea that we were a decent team that had just underperformed. Well, we have underperformed, but we're not quite a decent team. The only thing that has underperformed is the offense. The pitching is right on par with expectations, if you average out the whole season. This team really highlights the need and important of having an ace. But, at the same time, we have left a few too many games out there.

Out of those 7, say they won 4. That would put the record at 46-43, which would be 2.5 games out of 1st, and 2 out of the wild card. So it wouldn't be just much better shape, it would be fantastic shape.
