  1. the only athlete i can find who underwent a similar procedure is alberto cantador who then went on to twin the Tour de France twice afterwards
  2. more good news on v-mart http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=MLB&id=3393
  3. when the sox get healthy, they'll come storming back. book it
  4. and how much experience do you have with brain procedures?
  5. and how long have you been performing brain surgery for again?
  6. time to take wake out. unbelievable, he strikes out young and the umpire ruled it a foul tip even though it was nowhere close and young started running towards first. it went from 2 out, no one on to a 6 run first i can't wait for wakefield to be out of the rotation
  7. i asked this in the injury thread by why is it that beltre's not healthy enough to be in tonight's lineup when he was supposedly healthy enough to play in the all-star game?
  8. no beltre in the lineup today (3-6, 2B against Hunter). how is it that he was healthy enough to play in the all-star game, but not healthy enough to play tonight?
  9. http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/red_sox_ryan_westmoreland_03-15-10_5OHPEAD_v3.30148c0.html unless there are any veteran brain surgeons on here, this is the most accuate prognosis we'll get
  10. ...a classic cadillac that used to be driven by babe ruth, ted williams and yaz
  11. i wouldn't set any limits on him just yet. he's still only 20 and recieving assessments of remarkable from his doctors. if it takes him two years to get back, he'd still be very talented for his age
  12. another really tough series for the red sox starting tonight. they've had some horrible luck with opposing pitchers lately. in the 6 games prior to the break, they faced garza who kills them, nieman and price who are leading cy young candidates and romero who went into that game with a 3.39 era. now in this rangers series we get tommy hunter (5-0, 2.34 era), colby lewis (8-5, 3.33 era), cj wilson (7-5, 3.35 era) and cliff lee, another leading cy young candidate
  13. lol, not sure how v-mart saying "it's getting better, taking it day-by-day" translates as a lot of pain but a guy can dream i uess. my guess is that if the x-ray comes back negative v-mart will be playing in about a week
  14. he said the pain was getting better at the beginning of the week and as soon as he can get his hand in his glove he'll be ready to play
  15. extra bases just had a long update on all the injuries, to summarize: Buchholz will make a rehab start at AAA on Friday and could make a major league start Wednesday Delcarmen will make a rehab appearance at AA on Thursday and then is expected to come off the DL. Beckett will make a rehab start at AAA on Saturday and could make a major league start July 22nd. Beltre will get an MRI on Thursday and will likely be fine. Hermida will begin a rehab assignment at AA on Thursday and could join the team after a few more games. V-Mart will get an x-ray Thursday and will go from there. Pedroia will get a CT scan Friday and will go from there. Varitek will get a CT scan Friday and go from there. Ellsbury has been working out in Florida and should begin a rehab assignment in about two weeks. Lowrie went 6-15 (.400) in 6 games at A and will begin a rehab assignment at AAA on Thursday. and that makes up 40% of what would probably be our 25-man roster if they were all healthy http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2010/07/updates_on_the.html
  16. looks like the braves are putting all their eggs in the 2010 basket with bobby cox, chipper jones and billy wagner likely retiring after this year
  17. getting suspended from baseball (the second time) was the best thing that ever happened to him. he was the peter angelos of baseball in the 80's and yankees fans cheered when he was suspended. fortunately for him, gene michael turned the yankees organization into the winning franchise that they are today. if steinbrenner was never suspended and continued to trade away the yankees best prospects and run the team into the ground, i doubt yankees fans would be saying nice things about him right now
  18. phil hughes had no business pitching in an all-star game and girardi shouldn't have selected a-rod if he wasn't going to use him. sucks to have one homer manager ruin things for the rest of the al
  19. it's a long way from short league to the majors. chances are, of the 30+ guys you mentioned, perhaps 5 will make the majors and one or two will be productive players there
  20. price, lee, niemann, lester and king felix have all pitched better than sabathia
  21. i could care less if any sox players get in the game, they could use some rest. it is kind of funny though how of the 6 yankees all-stars, girardi selected 4 of them
