  1. hey, i'd prefer that the yankees don't add an arm so i don't have a problem with it. i enjoy watching their bullpen make games interesting on a regular basis
  2. since the all-star break, the red sox have had a team era of 3.39. the starters have an era of 3.59 (including wakefield's 9 earned runs in 8 innings) and the relievers have had an era of 3.00
  3. the yankees made a "big proposal" for soria, possibly including montero but the royals weren't interested. not that it matters, because the yankees are one of the teams on soria's no-trade list anyways. that should put a rest to soria to the yankees rumors
  4. i looked up his stats before posting. june was by far his best month, in which he had an era of 1.00 in 9 innings of work. but even this his whip was 1.33 and he stranded over 90% of baserunners so he was probably pretty lucky. he got lit up the first two months of the season and has been decent this month, but not anything to write home about (3.72 era, 1.34 whip)
  5. all the sox really need is a bullpen arm, anything else would be a luxury. in the offseason they can focus on stuff like trying to acquire ianetta and possibly trading for a big bat to take the place of ortiz. but they don't really have major holes to fill other than middle relief, left field and backup catcher and 2 of those 3 will be addressed by players returning from the dl
  6. you're the only person who thinks that's actually debatable
  7. and how exactly will he be dialing it up to 97 if he's fatigued? people assumed that joba would seamlessly transition back to the bullpen and be dominant again and look how that turned out
  8. is the bullpen really going to be better off with hughes? if his issue is that he's tiring right now, he's not going to be able to dial it up to full effort any better in october than he is right now
  9. i think everyone would be. when has one of the teams with the best records in baseball ever been sellers at the deadline?
  10. the clear up some of the stats in here, we were never 11-19. our low point on the season was on april 19th when we were 4-9 and the next day we put ellsbury and cameron on the disabled list. in april we had a 4.61 era and were 18th in the majors in runs scored. since then we've had an era of 4.12 and have scored the second most runs in baseball
  11. i doubt they'll leave either, but i don't expect them to give the yankees team friendly contracts which would make it difficult to spend $25 million a year on a starter if they're going to stabilize or reduce payroll. they need to replace two starters that will leave for free agency so they may have to settle for #2 or #3 starters
  12. yes, clearly it's much more rational to judge a team by their worst stretch of play in a season rather than judging them by the fact that they have one of the best records in baseball. what would we do without you, the voice of reason?
  13. a 3 game series isn't going to be the deciding factor in whether they're buyers or sellers. it seems like they go through a rough stretch like this every june or july and people talk about the season being over and then they make the playoffs
  14. there are two possibilities here. either the yankees didn't want to give up the talent necessary to acquire dan haren or they're cutting/stabalizing payroll. if it's the latter, it's going to be a very interesting offseason with derek jeter and mariano rivera both becoming free agents. those are two guys who haven't taken a paycut their entire professional career
  15. if the yankees are trying to cut or stabalize the payroll, that doesn't bode well for them going after the most expensive starter on the market next year
  16. i love joba. there is no way the yankees are a world series caliber team unless they make serious changes to that bullpen
  17. not the best start from daisuke, but he got away with it because it's seattle lol
  18. the last 3 years beckett 49-23, 3.71 era daisuke - 37-21, 4.00 era
