shouldn't be a big deal if he's healthy in 4-5 weeks but if it lingers it could be a huge blow for the yankees if their best starter this year isn't 100% going into the playoffs
it probably won't make much of a difference who else he uses as the set up guy. robertson (5.01 era, 1.67 whip) park (5.90 era, 1.41 whip) gaudin (6.52 era, 1.58 whip) and mosley (7.50, 1.50 whip) aren't any better
the yankees need to make a trade
he's probably the best yankees manager of all-time and the yankees act like he never existed, you have to admit it is strange. and it's not like he's an old, decling player who wanted a 5 year deal and was let go as a business decision
something to keep in mind as we're getting into the second half of the year
lester was 7-2 with a 2.82 era and a 1.15 whip in the second half last year
lackey was 7-4 with a 3.05 era and a 1.14 whip in the second half last year
the next few weeks will be crucial for the bullpen. manny delcarmen and michael bowden are both in the bullpen now, replacing some really poor middle relievers. delcarmen has been great this year, with the exception of his 2 starts prior to his trip to the dl (2.23 era prior) and bowden allowed one hit, no walks and no runs in 6 innings as a reliever at pawtucket
lowrie should be ready to return any day now and he could really improve the production we're getting from bill hall at second base.

i'm personally more of a yankees bullpen fan myself so i rather enjoyed it. should i bring up the loss column and say something about how dominant the red sox will be in the second half, followed by the phrase "book it" now? or is that just reserved for red sox losses?
