    if you consider the conga line of players we've had on dl, it's not a stretch to believe we'd be on pace for a 100 win season right now if they had been healthy. as bad as the bullpen is, bard and papelbon are a great back of the bullpen

    it's not as bad as having pedroia, v-mart and ellsbury on the dl at the same time. our offense has been down 2-3 hitters all year

    ellsbury's gone 7-14 in triple a. he could be activated off the dl for tomorrow's game

    i think it depends on whether or not they can get his defensive issues straightened out in the minors this year. if they can, i think he's the backup next year

    my guess is that they'll call up ellsbury tomorrow and they didn't want to use one of nava's options just for one game and then send him back down

    i'm sure the red sox will kick the tires on adrian gonzalez again and i wouldn't be surprised to see them go after aubrey huff in free agency. they've always liked him and he can play multiple positions

    i've noticed. is cano worthy of mvp consideration? yes. but would he come close to winning mvp if the season ended today? probably not. that's what i was discussing when pedroia won his mvp, it was a weaker field and not only did he play gold glove caliber defense, but he also swiped 20 bags and was the only player not named ty cobb or pete rose to the lead his league in hits, runs and doubles

    i have a feeling beltre will sign a big contract somewhere else and then go back to a mediocre hitter who plays good defense. given the lack of quality 1b/3b options, and the depth of the red sox farm system, i would expect them to explore a trade for a corner infielder

    now's the time to make a run at a playoff spot. we get the Guardians for four games, then we face the yankees for 4 games with our 4 best starters. i didn't realize this, but we play the yankees 10 more times this year

    buchholz is a god send. we have the best 1-2 top of a rotation in the american league

    if the season ended today, cano would probably finish 4th in the voting behind cabrera, morneau and hamilton. and youkilis is probably just as deserving as cano is for consideration
