  1. Defensive metrics trumps your old eyeballs. You should know that it is not necessary to even see a player perform to know that he sucks! Jeesh. Get with the program old dude.
  2. I have been watching closely. Except I keep falling asleep during the games. Medication issues and good weed I guess! Anyway he is just doing the same things I saw of him in 2015 and before. The kid is an athlete. It's very early and of course everyone with a keyboard will point out that "it's only spring training". Still, he looks on-point. I think he gets traded. At this point it's probably just as well. The Sox bungled his development in my opinion. Of course all the Alpha Penises on this board will have a drastically different take. Nope. I am an unabashed Blake fan. And I like Velazquez too. Holy s*** did Barfield give a ball a ride today. I hope he is better than Willie Mo!
  3. I think here is a good chance that he plays a significant role this season. He just gets it done. If only for 5 1/3 innings.
  4. lol. Maybe your sarcasm meter was not turned on.
  5. She IS over rated. She has a high center of gravity and that is about it.
  6. lol. Good to hear from you. lol
  7. Yeah cut Velazquez. Who needs his 5 1/3 every start. That's only good enough if you are E-Rod or Pom Pom.
  8. I know he get no love on this board but I always liked Layne.
  9. You two should see an eye Doctor. Holt is noticeably larger in the mid-section. His arms now look very similar to the pumped-up arms of Bennie last spring. Holt has said he has gained 20 pounds.
  10. Halifax is a beautiful environment. The weather does change very quickly. I sat harbor side in Halifax and watched a front move in very rapidly. I had never seen anything like it.
  11. Yeah if what Price has said of him is true, JD certainly has worked at becoming a better batter. A Lot. My guess is he has two-three good years with the Sox.
  12. Well the delay could be as innocent as they say. Just an unfortunate set of logistics. Most of the time these things take 2-3 days at least to do but that is in the off-season. No one cares or even notices. Now, because Spring Training has already started, people get all nervous because he is not on the field immediately after the signing. Or it could be because they found something undesirable in his blood and they are contemplating what they should do next. I kind of like the soap opera qualities of this whole JD affair. It's so Red Sox and so Boston media.
  13. So this is either.... A 2 yr $50 mil deal A 3yr $71.75 mil deal or A 5yrs $110 mil deal A 5 yr deal where he does jack s*** Sounds good to me!
  14. Nonsense. It can be a good deal or a bad deal. You guys keep ignoring the possibility of him not performing well and deciding to stick around for 5 years. Pete Abraham calls me a pessimist. Well, to only talk about the good that COULD come from this deal while ignoring the potential pratfalls of another big money long term contract is optimistic. I am a realist.
  15. I wish I knew what this post means.
  16. He really was flailing at sliders all year. Or at least most of it. I am also concerned that while he can start the season hot, he drops of the map in the second half. What gives with that s***?
  17. Me too. Although some of his value is now diminished compared to the days when he would play 7 positions. The Sox have decent to better reserve players to cover some of those positions. Regardless, he probably makes my team now.
  18. Nope. It is strong motivation.
  19. So Rich Eisen is saying that MLB is considering a change in how baseball will be played in the 9th inning. The idea is to allow the manager of the team that is losing in the 9th to send Batters up in any order that he chooses. In this way the best players will decide the game. So they say. What do you folks think of this idea?
  20. But if batting order does not matter how is moving him down of benefit?
  21. I am not sure what year it was but if 2009 was the year when he struggled he was booed. I remember being shocked by it. Just because someone doe not remember it happening does not mean that it did not happen.
