  1. I am not sure in which thread I mentioned Holt looking portly but I have found the photo in question. I guess many men would look like this if they distended their bellies. In any case he does look fat. Actual or not.
  2. I know he's one of your boys and I respect that. But 3/39 sounds like about what he is worth, if that. I think he can have a fun bat sometimes but nothing really special. His defense, to me, is maybe replacement level and over rated. Sox f***ed up on Fatboy, albeit at a higher rate. No sense messing up at 3rd again. We have Devers there where he has been playing and with some experience and work on his footwork and release point he could be a good defensive player. His bat will grow to be consistently better than Moose. I think anyway. Save the money and get someone like Moreland. Makes sense to me. Besides, MVP says he is HOF bound.
  3. Not thread worthy but I saw a photo of Broc Holt in Ct. from last night. Either it was a bad angle or an optical effect but s*** he looked fat. Not 6'3" 239 fat , but at least 20 pounds heavier than I have seen him. I need to see more photos of his gut. He looked awful.
  4. Yes that is certainly true. I really doubt that happens often.
  5. I think that was a big deal but for some reason it is not spoken about enough. The ten percent includes Price, Sale, and Kimbrel. Not sure who else could provide that kind of talent and performance at a significantly lower price.
  6. I agree. Though I tend to go with the idea of waiting just until they can't wait any longer. Then f***-em.
  7. Yup. You are right Moon. But this is frustrating. And lulz on the last line.
  8. I wonder how that can be determined. Seriously. Guys like Mike Napoli don't just stroll into town everyday. When a new player is introduced at Fenway he almost always feeds us the line that he is honored to be playing for such a great franchise as the Red Sox and that he is excited to play before such great fans. Sound familiar? Occasionally a player may really want to sign with the Sox for reasons other than money. Those guys are rare.
  9. If this is the case and his knee is "projected to remain healthy" I say he is worth the gamble. But I would also be down with sticking with the gang of four the Sox have to play back-up IF. Like his bat, though.
  10. Moon is that two years AAV 7 mil or two years AAV 14 mil?
  11. And if this is the case let JD sit out the year or go play in Japan for all I care. Enough with the stupid contracts.
  12. Lol. That will help sell the new stadium in Pawtucket!!!!
  13. I like that article. I have said this before, I just don't see these guys as "transformational" players. Their agents may blow smoke up their asses and inflate their egos, but they are mostly a flawed group. No way JDM is worth 5/125. Whatever. Glad we got Moreland back. At least he is worth his contract.
  14. You don't get my quote? It was for Bells benefit. He knows what it means.
  15. If I say something like he reminds me of Valentin someone immediately points out the fallacy of my opinion. How is that necessary? Why not just say, "how so Pete?" Did I say that the two had similar stats? Did I say they were both close friends of Nomar? I simply meant the two had a similar appearance. cp176 obviously knew what I was TRYING to say. I have no problem with MVP. He's a cool guy despite his obsession with Devers and Pedroia. And I certainly have not problem with you, either, Bell. "Now f*** off. I got work to do."
  16. I said sort of. Obviously I have not seen this kid play. I am speaking of visual appearance only. Jesus. Everybody here has to have the final word.
  17. He reminds me of of Valentin. Sort of.
  18. If you can post Judge as an example to push your point I can post Harper. Both are outliers. Chavis is a young 5'10' kid who has shown some pop in high A and AA in a small sample. That is nice. Nothing to get excited about. Yet.
  19. I think he needs to remain in Portland and produce in a full season. If he rakes, give him a cup of joe in September.
  20. I don't see why Chavis is such a stud. He is a .310-.320 OBP guy that strikes out as much as he gets a hit. He is a .250 hitter. He has had one "nice year" ( less than a season, actually ) at Salem. Other than that I don't see what the attraction is. He is young so he could improve but right now I don't see him being anywhere near what the Sox need on their roster. You guys make fun of Brentz yet you see so much to like about this kid. That makes a bunch of sense.
  21. Chavis is a midget. I like tall guys who can reach balls that are not thrown perfectly. I don't understand having a short player at 1st. Whatever.
  22. Yes. Clearly there will never be any more!
