  1. More likely because he is playing for his contract to vest.
  2. Yeah I was thinking this too. Things got ugly for Ortiz for a short period.
  3. 104 wins minimum. Get 'er done.
  4. I give you one "A" for enthusiasm.
  5. Amen. I always want home grown talent to succeed. I can see no value in continually deriding a player. Especially one that is on the fringe and one you likely have never seen play. I'm with you on this.
  6. Brentz was a Sox draft pick and prospect. He suffered a self inflicted injury that caused his development to be set back. I hope all ex-Sox prospects do well.
  7. I hope Brentz does well and get plenty of action in MLB.
  8. It does not sound appealing, I agree. But for one game so Betts gets a blow I doubt it will be terrible. We always have Holt!
  9. So we are all happy that JD was signed for much less than was being talked about. 5/110 is easier to swallow than 5/25, 6/150 or even worse. Yeah the front loaded deal with two opt outs seems preferable. But what happens if he is injured or does not perform to expectations and he does not choose to opt out? Does everyone think the last 3 years at $60. mil will be such a great deal then? He will be 31 this season. He will be 33 and 34 in the opt out years. If he is not getting it done years 34, 35, and 36 will be more of the same dead money s*** we have now with Fatboy and Hanley.
  10. Hmm. I can't disagree but I saw an interview during the Price / Eck flare-up where Farrell said that what was going on was being handled internally. If that was the case then it is not so much his failure to do something but just an example of how he was doing something that may not have been known by the press and public. Who the f*** knows? Onward to Cora.
  11. Speaking of Nunez, I just saw a video of him talking to the media. He seems like a humble and likable guy. This is the type of guy I want on my team. A gamer who is a good person. That engenders my respect and trust. I hope he has a great season.
  12. Maybe they found out something vile about him. Maybe he is a pedo.
  13. Don't forget Moreland played through a broken toe.
  14. Big penises rule Champ!
  15. Still, he did have 31 homers in AAA. It would be foolish to brush that off just because it happened after so many years in the minors. The bottom part of the 25 man is loaded with players who have done jack s*** in the majors and little more in the minors. Among that group, 31 homers looks good.
  16. I have not heard anything new about this "signing". Has he taken the physical? If so, I hope they took lots of advanced images of his f***ed-up knee and that someone competent reviewed them. If he does pass or has passed the physical, is he ready to start camp and participate in normal ST activities right away? He was still rehabbing in December so it could reasonably be assumed that he is not ready yet. If that knee is not ready to go now I say pass on Nunez. We need a healthy bat and placeholder for Pedroia now. Of course, if all goes well, he comes on board and rakes until Pedroia returns and rakes himself. Nunez can spell not only Devers at 3rd as Moon has suggested, but he can give X a blow at short. X has stated as recently as this week that he tires in the second half. Nunez can help keep him fresh if things go well. Of course Nunez can sub for Pedroia as needed too. I don't want to see him in the outfield unless it is a true emergency. Overall, Lots of things have to break right for the Sox. We'll see.
  17. Maybe because Beane has been willing to deal with the Sox and maybe because Brentz seems to profile as a Beane-type player. Buy low type guy. I do think Brentz will be playing at least AAA ball this year. I would like to see him get a fair shot in the Bigs just to see if he can translate his new found power to the highest level.
  18. I agree. Both are kind of old to be breaking in but Brentz has earned a look and Barfield may get one soon as well.
  19. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!11!11 Typical Bell humor!
  20. Yes. This to me is the only concern that I have about bringing him back.
  21. Oh Christ here we ago again with the batting order s***.
  22. Maybe DD should be given some credit here for waiting on Nunez. There has been interest in him elsewhere. Maybe the timing is now right to sign him to a short deal as opposed possibly having to commit to more years earlier in the off-season. "Or not".
  23. Higher being the operative word, of course!
