  1. It's such a crapshoot that it has happened twice in 25 years!
  2. Even if the Yanks record comes down, the Sox have no chance of beating them in a normal series even if Judge is out.
  3. Probably could've traded Crawford and Beckett together anyway, but received even less of a return. That Dodgers ownership wanted to add star power as they had just taken over. They needed some names.
  4. It's a crapshoot if the teams are similar enough in strength. I don't think this version of the Sox would have a real shot. Maybe could sneak out a win in a short WC series, but that's it.
  5. Sox are still 30th in expected ABS challenges per Statcast (-30.3). Sox have won 30 and lost 43 challenges. Reds have won 67 and lost 43 challenges.
  6. Also James "not highly ranked anywhere" Tibbs 24 👨‍🦯
  7. Law: Arias 3 Eyanson 21
  8. I disagree. You need the hitters to show up in the playoffs. Can't rely on pitching, defense and punch and judy hitters in the playoffs. It can work in the regular season if done right, but not in the playoffs.
  9. Beltre was better than AGon and you didn't have to trade Anthony Rizzo to have him on your roster.
  10. I'd send them both to AAA rather than have them sit on the bench. Mayer's bat isn't MLB ready. Durbin has hit MLB pitching before, but needs to get going for a few weeks before I'd call him back up. We're beyond Memorial Day. The numbers matter now.
  11. I don't believe this team would do much damage in the postseason even if they had Cinderella run down the stretch like CLE did last season. Hard to see them being able to string together 14 singles in a playoff game like they did last night.
  12. They were 27-31 last season and 9.5 GB on 5/28. Went 62-42 June-Sept so it's not an impossible task. Maybe an uphill task for this group though!
  13. Sox need to go 65 - 43 the rest of the way to get to 88 wins.
  14. Since Gasper was called up: 3rd AVG 11th OBP 6th SLG 11th wRC+ 4th BABIP
  15. Since the Red Sox called up Nick Sogard: 4th wRC+ 2nd AVG 4th OBP 4th SLG 1st BABIP
  16. BOS Pitchers: 3.47 Home 4.01 Away The pitching isn't the problem at Fenway. BOS Hitters: 79 wRC+ Home 104 wRC+ Away
  17. This isn't true. I think most of us BOS fans wanted to keep Beltre around and were upset when he left. The Adames risk isn't worth it. Adames and Beltre aren't similar risks IMO.
  18. I've been reading that the big reason for the shutdown is that owners (i.e. private equity) wants MLB to be setup more like NFL and NBA with a cap so that they can pull out more $$$. Players want to maintain status quo. If the MLBPA concedes to a cap, it'd be a dramatic turn for them and not a good one.
  19. Gasper isn't a great fielder, but Tracey is going to go with his WOO guys when he can. He clearly can't trust some of the previously established MLB guys. I'd rather stick it out with Narvaez and have Mickey play DH or 2B. Sogard can go to 3B.
  20. Dustin May had a perfect game into the 8th. WTH?
  21. When you have a lineup that keeps losing, just keep rolling it out there.
  22. What does Mikey Romero need to do differently at the plate to get back to the success he had last year?
  23. I think he was committed in '22, but the rest of the FO got cold feet. Bloom had no problem with blowing up STL.
