I think this is overstating their relationship.

Give him the contract and let him opt out. They still need a TOTR starter. Snell has a QO attachment and I don't like his profile. Montgomery doesn't have the QO, but also doesn't have ace upside. Of those three, it's gotta be Yamamoto regardless of the opt outs.

Yup, like 2015/2022 bad. '23 and '15 both had about even R/RA. In '22 they gave up way more runs than what they actually scored.

I think the budget is high enough, I think the specific acquisitions were what hurt the team. Replace Kluber with Eovaldi and last year's team looks much better.

I don't see a difference between 4th and 5th place. Both are pretty terrible. The winning % may be a bigger indicator IMO.

If it takes a month or two for Yamamoto to adjust, the season is over for that rotation. They’d need to be carried by a CY performance to be respectable.

Even if it’s just Yamamoto, they need to add to the rotation IMO.

If it was his first TJS, I’d be much less concerned.

A world class DH. The vast majority of 2x TJS guys don’t come back the same. It’s too much money to for the gamble IMO.

I think Turner was fine. Get multiple DH types was a bad choice for sure.

B most likely. His contract is going to be an overpay for a guy coming off his 2nd TJS.

One of which is developing pitching. Another is an owner that can’t stay the course.

I think he got scared by the Vaz blowback and was too indecisive to pull off a last second deal in ‘22. In ‘23, he just turtled because he wanted to stay as far away from the cap as possible and then wait for a deadline deal that he was unable to pull off.

2. Weird about Roman since Mayer was awful in AA and Roman was good in a SSS. 4. No, Rafaela will never fix his plate discipline. He will always swing at everything he can reach. 6. If they trade Verdugo, Abreu will be featured heavily for the '23 Sox IMO. I think he's fine as the 4th OFer since he can play all 4 positions. 7. No. 8. My guess is that '23 looks similar to '22 and that his bat is not transcendent. At least his glove is adequate now. I'd trade him. 9. He has a better chance to start than #7. 10. We won't know until '25 most likely. He'll most likely tear up the FCL. He won't see advanced pitching until Salem.

That's why I want to trade Mayer (SS) for a pitcher. Also, if they drafted more pitchers, are we sure they would have been developed properly? Their pipeline hasn't really been great in my lifetime.

I never bought into it either. The smokescreen about him being a New Balance guy was DUMB.
