  1. Why sneak up to it if you don't trust the CBO to not accidentally go over the CBT like he did the prior year?
  2. He has a weird swing, but it's working so far.
  3. If he's the secondary guy, I'm fine with it. I don't want him to be the Opening Day Starter.
  4. I'm sorry, but innings matter. Gray and Snell don't throw the innings that Nola can.
  5. No, I think the indecisiveness in prior trades prevented him from helping the here and now. If he had gotten under the CBT in 2022, they would have probably gone over in 2023. Now that Henry is potentially on board with spending more money, they'll need someone who won't hem and haw over deals. They need someone who can be truly decisive and bring guys to Boston rather than waiting out the market the way Bloom had.
  6. Is Montgomery still a second tier guy, or is he good enough to be top tier?
  7. notin floated 10 years (after 5 years, still have 5 years 150 left comment).
  8. I think there's no chance they get two of the top tier guys. I just don't see it happening.
  9. I'd take Nola for sure. He's more likely to pitch all year and pitch a Complete Game once in a while.
  10. The 5 BB/9? That the majority of his years he pitches less than 130 innings?
  11. I believe pitcher's are more likely to bust than hitters due to the higher likelihood of injury.
  12. Oh no, MLB Pipeline!
  13. The old heads got very excited during the Spring Training that Bobby V was running drills...
  14. They would have to be smart and lucky with the signing.
  15. That's why I wouldn't sign Snell. Yamamato is a probably depending on the deal because of his age. Snell at 10 years? Hell no.
  16. He was a very late signing. Almost no Spring.
  17. He just can't stay healthy. If he could have stayed healthy, he would have had a shot to get into the HOF.
  18. There are a few posters on here that are going to be crushed by reality when the Sox don't come away with 2 "aces" or 3 starters or whatever. There's just not enough arms to go around for all the teams that want to sign pitchers.
  19. Santiago Espinal was an All Star and put up 4.5 fWAR from 21-22. I think that trade still worked in the 2018 Red Sox's favor though.
  20. IDK, it was the worst defense in the league by a country mile.
  21. Houck’s favorite inning…
  22. Considering the increase in FA costs, they'll probably have to increase the 8M valuation for 1 fWAR at some point too.
  23. Yes, "a problem" but not "the problem."
  24. It's because Larry Lucchino isn't there to lead the franchise anymore. Larry was there through the hiring of DD. Once things went off the rails in 2019, Henry decided he had enough with the spending and wanted to tighten up the purse strings. He went the TB route (Chaim) and wanted a SUSTAINABLE model where he could pinch a penny but still could stay in contention every year or be close enough to pump ticket sales (we already have their money, what are they gonna do). Unfortunately, this model took too long to develop. Fans ended up staying away. The CBO hired was too tentative and could do a good enough job at staying above .500. We'll see what direction Henry goes with for the next CBO.
  25. He's wanted to move Devers to 1b since 2017 or so.
