  1. And one injury would take out both players at the same time!
  2. I think people just like getting mad at my posts rather than actually reading them.
  3. I don't know what Bloom will do with the rotation for 2024. If he adds Yamamoto to Bello, Whitlock, Houck and Sale it would be a fairly decent rotation. Still some injury risk though. However, the offense would still be really strong and we could see Story shift to 2B and Mayer added at SS at some point. Abreu and Rafaela would be closer to add to the depth in the OF. I think that's a much deeper roster than 2023. This year, there were no fall back plans in case of injury. Going forward, there should be an influx of young talent at the upper levels of the minors to fill in those holes. The "last place Red Sox" would be 1st in the Central and 3rd in the West right now. I think their record would be a little better next season though. Uncertain to how much higher it would play out in the standings as the East is a really difficult division for all 5 teams.
  4. It's why Othani isn't coming here. Some other pitcher? Maybe.
  5. @redsoxstats Baseball America has updated their Top 100 post-draft. Roman Anthony is now #35.
  6. To me, the last few Drohan starts are underwhelming. Simply looking at earned runs is not a good measure of performance for a pitcher, especially if they are only going 3 or 4 innings. I think the best organizations consider all moves and are always monitoring their talent. If they really believe in Perales long term, of course they wouldn't move him. I just suggested that if they were really going to be buyers at the deadline (which I don't think they should be) that there are lots of ways to get talent onto your roster. Is it a move that Bloom is likely to make? I don't think so. Frankly, I have no idea what Bloom is likely to do since he stood pat last season when he should have had a massive fire sale to add to the team's future. This organization has made some weird moves and non-moves over the past 4 years and I don't think anyone of us could guess what will exactly happen at the end of this month. At least a conversation about trading Perales is more interesting than Barnes blowing a game from a year and half ago.
  7. So to get him to spend, he needs to be made to look foolish and be put over a barrel. How often can we do that?
  8. Yorke is better than Valdez. He's good enough to field the position, but is never going to be better than average at his peak. Mayer is a really good SS though.
  9. If the Red Sox want Ohtani, just wait until the offseason and make him an offer then.
  10. No. What do the 2023 Sox need Ohtani for? He's not going to get them closer to the playoffs if they give up Casas and Verdugo.
  11. Without being rude, I'm talking about the near future, not two years ago or the past. The farm is close. If things break right, this team could really turn the afterburners on in 2025.
  12. Lugo has been horrible. I'm not sure Kavadas gets passed AAA. Hamilton is a useful bench piece at best, but needs to work on other positions.
  13. I don't think they should be buyers at all. Would Paxton take a QO? If he turns it down, it allows you to target a high value FA. I hope that Henry has the stomach to start spending again once the young talent arrives, but I'm not convinced.
  14. Start 8: 4 IP, 3 times as many BB's as K's, 1.50 WHIP Start 9: 4 IP, 3 ER, 2.25 WHIP Start 10: 3 IP, 1.67 WHIP He's really not turning the lineup over and a lot of guys are getting on base. The results are far from what we saw in AA. Also, he is dealing with an injury so we don't know what impact that has had on him since promotion or when it began as it hasn't been reported.
  15. I didn't say to count Drohan out. All I said was that he's struggled in AAA. We are talking about successes of Sox development and I don't think we can include him yet. Seems fair? On Perales, I said that they should consider trading him since he has decent trade value, needs to be added to the 40 man this offseason, is far away and the Sox have said they want to compete next season. If the Sox don't intend on competing next season and can carry additional 40 man slots or don't want to add assets at the deadline, then just hold onto him. Not sure why that was so controversial on here either?
  16. I didn't say they "built it up overnight." I said they went from doormats to contenders overnight and that the Sox could do the same if their farm talent matured. Not sure how that's controversial? Bloom has had time to get the meat of the farm to AA. The talent isn't that far away now. If the bats are good, Bloom should be ready to spend heavily on some arms and get this team to win.
  17. He's had 10 starts in AAA.
  18. His AAA stats leave something to be desired and he's starting to deal with a few injuries. Overall, I don't see a whole lot from the draft that has added to the system. The bats are good, the pitching not so much.
  19. Yes, it's really great.
  20. They didn't develop Schreiber. Winckowski and Crawford are just bullpen arms. We don't really know what Houck is, but it doesn't seem to be even a middle rotation guy. Sox need to develop starting rotation arms.
  21. If he's in A ball and needs to be put on the 40 man, maybe. That's clearly not the case though.
  22. I think we'd need to see more than one guy show some success to really believe it.
  23. Bloom hasn't shown that he's been able to do that.
  24. Guys that could be up by the end of 2025: C: Scott, Hickey IF: Mayer, Yorke, Valdez, Meidroth, Bonaci, Jordan OF: Abreu, Anthony, Rafaela Not all of them will be ready. However, we know that Devers, Story, Masataka, Casas, Wong, Refsnyder and Duran are most likely to be on the roster. Opening Day Roster 2025? C: Wong, Hickey IF: Casas, Story, Mayer, Yorke, Devers, Scott/FA OF: Masataka, Duran, Refsnyder, Abreu, Rafaela
  25. You always have a great way of not just moving the goalposts, but completely erasing them.
