  1. Rafaela is JBJ with a lower BB rate and more pop.
  2. No, there's are 2 big reasons that Rafaela shouldn't just be put at 2B. 1. He grades out as a GG CFer which greatly increases his value if he can't produce with the bat. 2. The defensive value at SS is approximately 5 runs greater than 2B. A defensive first 2B doesn't really exist in this day and age.
  3. He did get a pretty massive bonus, so I wouldn't be surprised if he sneaks into the back of the top 10. I mean, is he better than Wikelman or Romero? That's the question. I would start him outside the top 10 and then see how he does in FCL/SAL at the end of this summer.
  4. Where does another post need to say that? It's common knowledge that Rafaela's value is solely in his glove. Story is coming of modified TJS. Rafaela's best fit long term would just be as a 9th in the order CFer.
  5. Why would Story be the long term SS if Rafaela is a much better defender? How does that make any sense? Why take all of Rafaela's value and throw it in the trash?
  6. Unsure if Nazzan will even be top 10. We'll see. He's an interesting prospect. Some rankings had him first round, others had him 2nd round.
  7. @alexspeier The Red Sox released Jake Faria and placed Eddie Alvarez on Triple-A Worcester's injured list. Those moves open space for the team to add righthanders Nick Robertson and Justin Hagenman to the WooSox roster.
  8. You'll never get large enough samples of catchers working with the same pitchers against similar competition over the same time period. Even moon's stretches over a distinct portion of Sale's career where he went from ACE to mid/injured. Fortunately for Sandy, he was the primary catcher for the ace years. We have no clue what it would have looked like if Vaz took over during that stretch. When you look at other pitchers and see Vaz's numbers look better than Leon's (specifically for most of the pen) it's just due to LOL RANDOM per moon. ERA is barely an effective measure for pitchers. It's even worse for catchers.
We had discussed DeJong back in April. Better late than never.
  10. @JeffPassan The Milwaukee Brewers are acquiring first baseman Carlos Santana from the Pittsburgh Pirates, sources confirm to ESPN, with 18-year-old shortstop Jhonny Severino headed back to Pittsburgh. First on the news was @JMackeyPG. PIT was absent from moon's list.
  11. He's taking the buyout.
  12. Except that the Angels paid way more than BTV projected. The kicked in an extra 20M in value.
  13. Ort hasn't pitched since July 5th. I think he has a legit injury.
  14. Cutter Coffey OPS by month: April 634 May 589 June 794 July 844 Nice to see him start to get into the groove.
  15. They aren't sellers. I'm not sure what OAK has to sell.
  16. Roman Anthony through 26 Games GRE: 1152 OPS 9 HR 23 R 21 RBI 24 BB 16 2B
  17. Ewww, I hate those two teams the most and actively wish them harm. Why would I check them out?
  18. Must have gotten really high.
  19. The two prospects had approximately the same value as Yorke and Romero per BTV. Kind of a steep price IMO.
  20. Other teams have 3 starting pitchers, Opening Day C and the starting SS out?
  21. @ChrisCotillo What did Chaim Bloom learn from Boston's weird 2022 trade deadline? "Chances are, whatever you do when you're in that position, you're not going to get in. That was the fact we were looking at."
  22. Speed? Negative career BsR. 26th in Sprint Speed for 2B. Slower than Michael Chavis.
  23. @alexspeier With the deadline coming closer, Chaim Bloom says the Red Sox won’t think in terms of buy/sell but rather the “North Star” of continuing to bolster an increasingly promising core. That could mean… a lot of things. They aren't going to do s*** at the deadline.
  24. They aren't fully healthy though?
  25. He'll be 29 next year. Why worry about what he does if he leaves. Worry about him being a replacement level player and taking up room on the active roster.
