  1. They aren't going over the 3rd threshold, so no Suarez, no IKF and trade Duran?
  2. It's not the weather, it's the SSS with this team. They need some regression.
  3. This team used to be a top 3 payroll year in and year out. Bickering if they are 6th or 12th is silly. They have taken a step back while other ownerships have taken a step forward. I'll keep judging them on playoff appearances. Now they can't even field a team to make expanded playoffs. 2003-2019 5 of 17 years missed playoffs (under expanded rules) 2020-2025 4 of 6 years missed playoffs (under expanded rules) So what changed???
  4. Runs wRC+ wOBA OPS I think they may not get top 15 in HR or SLG. We'll see though.
  5. Depends on the stat.
  6. Figure it out as you go is the motto of the 2026 Red Sox OF. It doesn't work.
  7. Contreras isn't a C anymore. He's a 1b and good at it.
  8. 3 out of 4 starts for Bello have been pretty bad so far. I don't know what's going on with him. He's dialed back his sweeper usage and increased his cutter and sinker. The sinker used to be his best pitch, but it looks like he's leaving it up and it's getting rocked. Lots of hard contact. Velo seems down across the board too.
  9. That's what I've suggested elsewhere on here. I can hold my nose a little less if Rafaela is hitting the way he is while playing 2b then his value doesn't fully crash out. I'd lean towards DFA'ing IKF and just putting Durbin on the bench rather than demoting him. IKF has been pretty horrible and is only on a year contract.
  10. We're gonna win with pitching and defense.
  11. Even if they added a FA that is currently struggling, there'd be hope that his bat would turn around soon. Right now, the path forward is a little murky. They can do it, but it's still a low ceiling.
  12. Abreu is a streaky guy. He and Contreras should still hit 20 HR. Hard to say about the rest of the team. Anthony showed some power last season, but has that crazy GB%. Mayer has natural loft, but is struggling with MLB pitching. Duran can get really hot and reach 20 HR. Rafaela hit 12 HR in a 40 game span last season. I think the team has put themselves in a huge hole (winning %), but the overall offensive numbers should bounce back.
  13. It's John Henry and a few of his yes men that get in the way like Sam Kennedy.
  14. Welcome to TalkSox!
  15. Ryan Watson is NOT an MLB pitcher. If they are intentionally going for line drive swings, why do they have this sign up?
  16. Red Sox Suck Red Sox Suck Red Sox Suck
  17. The IKF pinch hit situation was more damning to Cora than to Duran IMO. IKF comes in and foul bunts with two strikes? Brutal! Might as well have Duran up there. I agree that Duran needs to be an everyday guy. He's not a guy that does well sitting on the bench. I think even DHing isn't the best fit for him TBH. His BB rate is 7.2% which isn't all that off from career norms. I don't know what Cora is talking about there. Is Cora just relying on the eye test and not looking at stats and metrics? Very weird.
  18. Yeah, he'd be better off just setting a budget and staying away.
  19. That was the worry going into the season. Threading that needle of winning games was going to be really tight. They feel like an AL Central team. Need a 20 game winning streak like the '25 Guards or something.
  20. If they aren't going to be in the playoffs this year, they need to decide which guys are sticking around long term and deal everyone else. Out of it at the deadline: Trade WC40 Trade/DFA Story Trade Masa Trade Gray Trade Chapman The need to do what they failed to do with the '22 team.
  21. Arias has 6 HR in April. That's as many as he had in 87 games at GRE last year. He has never had double digits in a season before.
