What we said was "that's the Red Sox's plan" not that it's what they should do. Nobody said don't get Parades AND Durbin. Red Sox were openly saying that he was going to be on the roster. They weren't saying that he was competing for a spot, which they should have been. Also, I was always under the assumption that they would try not to go over the 2nd CBT threshold. They are right around it now and will try to get underneath it.
What's the point in saying "they should go out and have a 400M payroll" when you know the confines Henry puts on the team? I would have rather them spent the Suarez or Gray money on another bat. If they didn't deal Gray, they'd still have another depth starter. Maybe it prevents them from trading for Durbin and they have even more depth pieces.
