  1. The water in the Everglades is warmer than 50 degrees, so I think they'll be fine for now. Would need a really crazy cold snap which would be horrible for the entire ecosystem TBH.
  2. It started from my wife wanting to do a butterfly garden during 2020 and then kind of got out of control. The only non-native plants left over from the previous owners are the annoying shrubs hiding the a/c units, a few large jatropha in the backyard that the butterfly like and some palm trees.
  3. They are resilient enough and typically in the water or under a layer of earth unlike the falling iguanas that were being bagged up for FWC.
  4. Better if you can exclude the 195 games in SEA 82 tOPS+. BOS 218 tOPS+, 10 G, 4 HR NYY3 124 tOPS+4 CIN 112 tOPS+ (he should do well there as a DH)
  5. The only reason they are being traded is because the team is worried about the CBT. I think it's silly to trade Duran for pennies on the dollar if you believe Duran is worth more than other teams believe.
  6. They moved him to the OF because of his speed. He struggled for years to learn the OF. They never even hinted at moving him back to 2b. Would he ever move back to the IF? It really doesn't seem like it to me. It seems unlikely that he's going to be moved in a trade TBH. I think they are just stuck with a weird 4 person OF rotation and wind up sitting Masa in favor of the 4th OFer a lot. If a contending team gets a significant injury, maybe Duran would be dealt? Prior to the season, Abreu is more likely to be traded than Duran IMO, but seems less and less likely as we get closer to players reporting.
  7. That's Suarez playing fulltime vs Masa having to be platooned. Last 2 years: Suarez 806 Masa 742
  8. Jeremy Lin - came back for one year and retired Oladipo - hasn't played a regular season game in the NBA since having the surgery Roberson - played 12 games over the course of two years and hasn't been in the NBA since These were guys who played in almost every game and their careers were drastically changed by this injury.
  9. Which is why it's 9 months post surgery and Casas is expected to be a full participant in workouts, right? Going to be starting in ST games in 3 weeks?
  10. It's been well more than 4-6 months and there is no public timetable for his return. I wouldn't expect it to be Opening Day and closer to 12 months or longer.
  11. A switch hitter who doesn't pull the ball at Fenway? Not sure he's getting to 15 HR in BOS. He had a good defensive year at 2b last year, but was not good the few before then. Can't say I watch a lot of late night Halos games though.
  12. Andujar is great at hitting lefties, but there are only so many platoon guys that you can put onto a roster IMO.
  13. If they wanted another platoon OFer, they would have re-signed Refsnyder. I'd be surprised if they signed Andujar.
  14. I'd be less worried about him if it was just his ACL. He ruptured his patellar tendon FWIW.
  15. Anyway, I don't want to rehash it further because we're all pretty entrenched into our positions.
  16. I don't think he was a bad teammate. I think they should have had him move to 1b in ST. If they had that convo and gave him time to workout in the Spring, it would have been fine IMO. We'll never truly know though. Sox have a history of bad mouthing people as they are on the way out the door. They really didn't have much ammunition for Raffy. If he was such a bad teammate, there would have been a lot more to say. All I know is that the lineup is much weaker without him. If they had Anthony AND Devers, we'd be a lot less concerned about what is going on right now.
  17. I'd pass on both TBH.
  18. Very unexciting.
  19. 2010 got this cold in my area. Had a lot of local fish die off that time from the cold temps back then after being cold stunned. We'll see what happens here. The ocean temp was at 73 yesterday, so hoping it wasn't too bad in the estuary. I didn't bother covering my yard with blankets because I redid it with 400 native plants two years ago. It would have been hard to know what to cover and what to ignore. The plants that I typically see on the beach (dune sunflower, railroad vine) look awful, but they'll be back and take over again once it warms up. The jamaican dogwood and fire bush are pretty rough too, but I think they'll just drop their leaves and regrow them in a month or two. We'll see what happens.
  20. The other alternatives cost more than just money though.
  21. Strawman? You compared my argument to a flat earther. Feel free to back pedal all you want. I guess this amounts to burning the world down somehow. I would like a nice fire though. Just one small one in my office. It's really cold in here.
  22. I just don't happen to take everything the FO says as the end all be all. There are multiple sides to every story. Not sure that makes me a flat earther though. If you need to see the world in black and white, you do you I guess. If I find evidence that Raffy was a bad teammate aside from "he wore headphones" I'll listen to it. "Nobody pitched a fit when he left so he must have been a bad teammate!!!" 😎
  23. Sox offense needs omph and Paredes could give it some. I originally had Hoerner higher than Paredes because of the defense. Not a fan of Shaw. He'd cost a lot too.
