  1. I saw Harmony's post yesterday and chose to ignore it. Young isn't a heartthrob like Mayer. No comparison.
  2. It was definitely Hanley. He stated that it happened in TB early in the 2018 season and that the player was let go a few days later. It only lined up with Hanley.
  3. I listened to the podcast that Brock first disclosed the story on. Pretty wild. Can't believe we didn't hear about this for a decade.
  4. Eaton isn't going to fix anything, but I'd take his bat over Durbin's bat if we're just looking at that.
  5. Durbin would do better in the minors because he puts the ball in play more vs worse defense. That goes away vs superior defenses in MLB. It's why Braiden Ward has an OBP around .500 in AAA right now. I'd rather the better bat to ball profile of Eaton at that point.
  6. In the past, they were worried about cost and signed sub elite talent to fill open positions (Story, Masa). That cost them more due to worse production and bad contracts than if they swung for the fences on larger contracts (Schwarber, Swanson).
  7. Fenway played a lot smaller back then too. Once they added the 600 club/406 club/EMC club/Dell Technologies Club, the wind patterns changed and depressed the power a little bit.
  8. People want to be angry at somebody because the Red Sox are horrible right now. He's an easy target.
  9. I'd pinch hit Nate Eaton for Durbin right now. Better bat speed, barrels the ball more. Eaton had a decent whiff rate last time he was up. Durbin has been really dreadful this season. His xwOBAcon is bottom 2% in MLB. Everything he pulls, goes straight into the ground and into a fielder's glove.
  10. Go read his book. He talks about the downfall of the Red Sox in 2011. It's interesting. Ownership wanted more marketable stars (Youk, Papi and Pedey didn't count apparently) so they got AGon and Crawford. It was more about the tv show of baseball than the product on the field. It's why they refused to do early get away games. It was all about the failing ratings at the time. It's funny because they ended up dumping those guys and then just reversing course and signing Panda and Hanley a few years later for no reason at all except to showcase panda hats every commercial break. These owners are so dumb.
  11. Francoma was at a meeting with Larry, Henry and Tom on 9/30 when he figured out that it wasn't going to work out because of what ownership was talking about. Werner was hung up over a misunderstanding about clubhouse issues of Francoma not being able to control the players, but Tito really just said that he "couldn't reach" some of the players. He wasn't fired by Theo.
  12. Roman Anthony at age 21 was better than Yaz at 21.
  13. Easy to hate Breslow since he's (a) the guy who is in charge of adding the players who are underperforming and (b) is unable to communicate to players, media, fans. I've been rather indifferent to Brez since he was hired. He's made some great deals and some pretty bad ones. Right now, the direction of the franchise is entirely on him. If the Sox fail over the next year or two, it's his job on the line.
  14. He's been here since 2018. The past 8 seasons have been more bad than good with lots of players underperforming. At some point, you do have to look at the coaching staff and say that it's best to move on. Cora is a good coach for the right team. The Sox just have a young core and that's not Cora's forte.
  15. 1960-1966 hitting in the bottom half of the league almost every year, pitching ERA in the bottom 4 almost every year Average wins per year: 71 No way were they more fun to watch over a 7 year stretch like that.
  16. Yup, just like papa Henry taught you. Instead of looking at a player as an asset, you look at a player's contract as a liability. Good boy.
  17. Bregman got pissed off that the Sox didn't believe he received an offer from the Cubs. That was when the turn happened. The NTC issue just pushed him over the edge.
  18. He would have been if he wasn't injured. Sandoval thought he was going to be able to pitch in games last season.
