  1. Why would Cohen meet directly with Yamamoto twice unless he was serious about offering a competitive contract?
  2. If they are really darkhorses, why not just go sign Monty now if they REALLY like him? Maybe they don't like the tier below Yamamoto enough to sign them to monster deals? I wouldn't sign Snell to one just because he doesn't have the track record of throwing innings.
  3. We'll have to see if the Sox are willing to drink from the firehose once it's turned on.
  4. Low info guy put the ORIOLES on his list. That's what you're running with? CLICKBAIT?!?!? But you're mad about Tony Mazz? Ok... Also, Yankees were 5th on the list dude? Caught you slipping!
  5. For a guy from DeLand, FL, maybe sportswriters should have figured he'd get along better in TX than NYC.
  6. Sox only had 13.6 fWAR last season. s***, with Casas, Devers and seven 1 fWAR guys they could get there again.
  7. I think a lot of us just don't believe the WILL is there anymore.
  8. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/rays-have-been-in-contact-with-jacob-degrom.html The Rays are among the teams that have reached out to the representatives for Jacob deGrom, reports Andy Martino of SNY. They join the Rangers, Yankees and incumbent Mets as clubs known to have some amount of interest, although there are surely a number of other teams in the bidding. Needless to say, Tampa Bay represents a long shot in the race for any top free agent. The Rays consistently run payrolls in the bottom five to ten, and it’s impossible to envision them winning any all-out bidding war against either New York franchise or a Texas club that has rapidly pushed its payroll upwards and seems determined to land impact pitching this winter. Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic unsurprisingly writes that Tampa Bay officials aren’t bullish on their chances of signing deGrom.
  9. Kopech was a top 20 prospect at the time he was traded. The Sox don't even have a pitcher in the top 100...
  10. Did he put on a Batting Helmet Sorting Hat or something and that's how the contract was signed?
  11. Was Drohan overslot? I only remember Blaze being overslot.
  12. He's only good when away from Felger. He was fine on the baseball show. He was fine as a guest on Carrabis' pod. I wouldn't want to listen to him all that often, but I think you do need to listen to more than just the Mario Pepen's of the world.
  13. If you redraft 2020, he's probably taken in the 1st round. Sox ended up being right. The draft is a crapshoot, Sox got that pick right. The 3rd rounder that year seems like trade bait. Projected light tower power who shows power very little in game. Glove doesn't really play anywhere, but maybe becomes a 1B/3B/LF replacement for Dalbec?
  14. Good tax situation in TEX, I've heard.
  15. I'm just reporting what I heard so that others don't have to listen to the podcast unless they want to hear the dulcet tones of Tony Mazz... We do have a recent track record of Henry not wanting to spend. Until he does so, that's where we're at. They hired someone to tweak, not teardown, the Bloom formula. Until they actually go FULL THROTTLE, they are a middle of the pack spending team. Colorado Rockies East.
  16. He was a guy they liked. Most other teams valued him in the 2nd round. I was just refuting the "everyone was praising Bloom for the pick" comment. That was NOT the consensus at the time.
  17. They'd need to overbid. He didn't visit. Owner didn't meet with him directly. I'm not sure what his actual preference is city wise. He grew up a Tanaka fan. He likes Ohtani.
  18. FO probably doesn't realize how dysfunctional they are.
  19. It's probably 5-10% chance. Sox probably see themselves as being darkhorses now from what I heard from Carrabis/Mazz on today's pod. There is a belief that if they miss out on Yamamoto, that they will NOT go big on another pitcher like Monty or Snell this season. They would wait until next season or explore a trade. They mentioned the Sox track record of bringing in guy via trade like Pedro, Beckett, Schilling and Sale rather than via FA. It's just harder to do as the Sox don't have the pitching talent to give back. Would have to maybe be a 3 team deal. There is a big risk that the Sox continue to somewhat punt and not be a top tier team because Henry feels he's already gotten what he needs out of the franchise and that people will show up to Fenway regardless if they are Sox fans or visiting fans. They may be happy to spend in the 10-15th range and hope to splurge once in a while.
  20. Half of the players selected above him are in the same position he is in. Everyone was QUESTIONING this pick as it was seen as a stretch pick for a guy that should have been taken in the 2nd round at best. He'll be in AAA this year, which is close enough for a mid-year callup.
  21. Oh no! Get SD to cover part.
  22. He’s been out since 2012.
  23. I'd say they should try to work out a trade the seems reasonable, provide your best extension offer (250M+) and back out if Burnes declines.
  24. I know a former high K Sox pitcher that could really help with the pitching program: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/ugueth-urbina/216/stats?position=P
  25. Should be the Oakland Raiders of the MLB. f*** it, trade for Machado too...
