I wouldn't necessarily trade Yorke to clear space. I'd trade Yorke if you were bringing back pitching. He has a chance to stick as an everyday regular now that his glove is average at 2B.
I mean, that's all about TRADE value, not current value. I don't think it's necessarily the same thing. Abreu has a certain amount of value over the next 6 years, but maybe less value for '24.
Fitts isn't bullpen depth IMO. He'd be an emergency starter most likely. He has the best SP profile of the 5 guys listed in the WOO rotation on SoxProspects (Winck, Walter, Fitts, Gambrell, Van Belle).

Sox Manager Alex Cora spoke this morning with @bradfo & @BBisntBoring on the free agent market: "It's not lack of effort. We're working. Bres is working. It hasn't happened... yet. Business wise. These two guys have dominated the game"
We'll see how the Crag regime goes. If it's meet the new boss same as the old boss then we have a good idea that it doesn't work. With DD, the problem was always "well he doesn't work well or listen to others!" But he'd go out and make moves! You know, the thing a CBO is supposed to do.
Wrong! I simulated a pitcher where he was able to hit a target perfectly as long as it was outside the strike zone every time. Once the glove was in the zone, the pitches became erratic.
What follows is a post where moon tries to convince me that I can never admit to being wrong.
Considering all the fake news from the lame stream media that has been reported so far. We have no idea what the FO has been up to. There was no smoke to the trade of Verdugo to the Yanks. The O'Neill trade came out of nowhere. Seems like the "leaks" we have been given were just conjecture. Maybe they are busy? Maybe they are doing nothing? We just don't know. Until Crag assembles his first squad, we don't really know his capabilities.
Last place in the division in the past two seasons, but not in the bottom third of the MLB (12th and 14th picks). They've been frustratingly below average teams. The 2020 team (4th pick) was a dumpster fire. That was the team that felt like a last place team. I'm glad we don't see many of those.
