  1. Seeing that Bello is the current #5 starter for the Sox, why would anyone watch that game? I only watched the first few innings then caught up on the rest this AM. Too many late starts!!!
  2. Amazing play. With Rafaela out there, we may no longer hear about how JBJ was the greatest CFer of all time.
  3. Trade bait. Sox have enough decent arms in the pen that somebody else should become the closer IMO.
  4. Let’s check back in on Bloom in 2029.
  5. The farm was better when he took over than when he left. Ben did pretty bad. DD wasn’t much better.
  6. DD traded from a farm that Ben had inherited. Ben and DD both did a poor job IMO.
  7. Top 20 when DD left: Casas Mata Groome - traded and hurt Jimenez - released this offseason Dalbec Duran Houck Song Chatham - traded to PHI, retired Ward - rule 5, in AAA now Zeferjahn Ramirez - traded to CHC, has not pitched since 2021 Murphy Lugo Decker Cannon - MiLB rule 5 to PHI, released to Indy ball Bello Flores - released, retired Rafaela Wilson - DFA'd, claimed by SEA, re-signed by Sox released again
  8. No, the AAAA guys (Contreras, Romy and the bullpen pieces) would outpace the AA guys. If you had AAA pitchers team with the AA hitters and the AA pitchers team with the AAA hitters, I'd take the AA hitters 100%.
  9. Salem - hitter heavy: Johnfran Garcia, Marvin Alcantara, Miguel Bleis, Zanetello, Antonio Anderson, Natanael Yuten Greenville - pitcher heavy: Connelly Early, Luis Perales, Dalton Rogers, David Sandlin, Reidis Sena, Jeremy Wu-Yellend Portland - top prospect collector: Teel, Mayer, Anthony, Wikelman, Yorke Worcester - sleepers: Meidroth, Benitez, Gambrell, Hagenman, Sogard, Hickey
  10. "Consciousness does not need to be confined to brains," Sheldrake told Popular Mechanics in its new story. "The link between minds and physical systems seems to be through rhythmic electromagnetic fields, which of course are present in our brains. They are also present in and around the Sun, and these could be the interface between the solar mind and the body of the Sun."
  11. Through 5 games: #1 in pitching fWAR #1 in BB/9 #1 in K/9 (only 2nd in Starter K/9) #1 in ERA #1 in xFIP (relievers #1 xFIP too) If Joely was shot into the sun, would this be the greatest pitching squad of all time?
  12. I haven't decided yet.
  13. @BigBobsCards Here’s a hilarious MLB conspiracy theory for you. Last Dive Bar is an online store that describes itself as a “premier online store for unique and stylish apparel that celebrates the iconic Oakland Coliseum”. Go to the website and you’ll see that their apparel seems to have a central theme… Their homepage features shirts and hoodies that read “Boycott” and “Sell the Team”. There’s also a shirt depicting A’s owner John Fisher playing with a puppet that resembles A’s President Dave Kaval. Last Dive Bar hosts a yearly Fans’ Fest that is openly anti-ownership. Now the fun part. Their Twitter account tweeted pictures of 4 A’s players wearing their wristbands… Esteury Ruiz - demoted Brent Rooker - benched Cristian Pache - traded James Kaprielian - released
  14. Pete Alonso: ARB 1: 7.4 ARB 2: 14.5 ARB 3: 20.5 I don't see Casas getting to these amounts. If he does, great. It's a bigger risk that an extension is just overpaying him IMO.
  15. It was JUST the A's, but him not throwing an BB's is a good sign IMO.
  16. 2023 3rd time through the order: 1.75 WHIP 936 OPSa 12.74 ERA 5.80 FIP
  17. Wow, very interesting. I think we all weren't very impressed with Whitlock prior to 2024. This is pretty much the last hurrah. He pitched well in ST and has a new toy (BULLET SLIDER).
  18. The Pirates also started off strong last year (20-9, 1st place on 4/30). From May 1 on, they played .421 ball. Only the Rockies had a worse overall record than that. The tier is only a judge on their payroll, not play on the field. Otherwise, the Mets wouldn't be in the top 2!
  19. If they are only getting one extra year out of Casas, why bother win an extension since prices are relatively low for that position?
  20. Also, Whitlock's pitching repertoire lends itself to being a starter ahead of Houck's one-two punch of a slider/sinker.
  21. Is Houck a battler because he can barely get through the second time in the order?
  22. Hard to call #16 "second tier." There are clearly quite a few tiers in MLB right now. 1. NY teams 2. At or above CBT (#3 Astros - #10 Giants) 3. Under CBT (#11 Sox - #17 M's) 4. Well under the CBT (#18 ChiSox - #28 Marlins) 5. Embarrassing (#29 Pirates and #30 A's)
  23. Casas' extension should be less than Bello's. 1b's just don't get paid all that much, especially guys that don't field all that well. If they went year to year with him for a few more years, I don't think it would kill the budget. Seems like Casas is looking at a sky high budget when I'm not sure he's earned it yet. I'd offer 6/66 with a team option for a seventh year at 22.5M. Anything more than that is throwing money away IMO.
  24. The worst pitcher of the bunch since ST started.
  25. I think they would have still had Whitlock, Winck, Houck, et al prep for the rotation and Whitlock would've earned a spot ahead of Houck.
