  1. If he sucks here and gets dropped, I can't worry about what happens after.
  2. Naoyuki Uwasawa struck out Rafael Devers earlier this spring. Overall line: 9.2 IP, 14 ER, 15 Hits, 9 Ks, and 8 BBs.
  3. “Guys, we’re totally going to wine and dine Soto until you all get blue balls and then not give him an offer at all.”
  4. Great thread. A lot of effort put in here.
  5. The guy they traded for: John Cruz is the only player that Fangraphs has tracked (at least since 2006) to have been younger than 18 and have a .900+ OPS in over 200 plate appearances at the complex Obviously he's super young and a lot can happen, but his FCL performance was literally unheard of John Cruz, who is everyone's favorite breakout prospect, is heading to Miami. 18 year old with projection, hit 10 HR in 48 CPX games last year. Made good in-zone contact(83%) and had a 101 90th percentile EV which is solid for his age. John Cruz is already a Top 200 prospect for me and realistically could be Top 50 overall by the end of 2024.
  6. Lowrie didn’t have his MLb debut until 24. Romero has time if his skeleton doesn’t hop out of his mouth this Halloween.
  7. Double yup.
  8. That’s what I remember too. Garbage.
  9. He was also pretty awful in ST from what I remember. AAA depth at best.
  10. Wooooooooooowwwwwwwie!
  11. @SPChrisHatfield Just learned that Noah Song, who went on the 60-day IL this morning, needs Tommy John surgery. More adversity for right-hander, who after his 2019 debut had a multi-year absence due to his military commitment, followed by a roller-coaster 2023 with the Phillies as a Rule 5 pick.
  12. Scott and Perez are both listed on the the WOO roster. https://www.milb.com/worcester/roster The roster also lists Joely Rodriguez FWIW.
  13. Cotillo and Ed Hand are the only ones who have noted the Perez or Scott situation on Twitter. Scott has been playing most of ST, but maybe he got injured at some point? I know he played in the game I saw down in Jupiter. SoxProspects projected Scott to start in POR if that means anything.
  14. @ChrisCotillo Another Red Sox note: Roberto Pérez is starting the season in extended spring training as he continues to ramp up baseball activities. Not in Worcester to start.
  15. IDK? I don't know any other reason they aren't on the roster unless there have been some changes. Perez could be a quick 40 man add in case of injury. Scott????
  16. Romero is Jed Lowrie with the injury dial turned all the way up.
  17. Mata may come off the IL, but still is able to rehab in AAA for a period of time I believe... Romero seems to have been an amazing pick.
  18. Franchy and Winckowski were already mentioned in a post above so I didn't include them.
  19. Wow. Notin's original point was that he sucked because he missed ST. I said he sucked because of injury. We haven't convinced each other. If he's great this year, I'll say it's because he's healthy and notin will say it's because he had a Spring Training. If he sucks this year, I'll say it's because there's another underlying injury we don't know about and notin will say that Spring Training needs to be extended until May 1.
  20. I'm hopeful for this year, but it's far from a guarantee.
  21. @pgammo Sportico Top 5 MLB Franchise Values:Yankees $7.93B, Dodgers $6.3B, Red Sox $5.96B, Cubs $5.31B, Giants $4.2B Up 9% from last year. It's why winning doesn't really matter to Henry. The value of the Sox won't tank unless he actively pours gasoline on the franchise. For now, being an absentee owner and cutting payroll isn't hurting its value.
  22. @EdHand89 One interesting note from WooSox media day- neither Stephen Scott or Roberto Perez are listed on the opening day roster. Travelling with BOS just in case?
  23. Story had a 709 OPS his last 57 games of 2022 (post May 27).
  24. Benintendi had a lot of promise, but it all kind of went away after 2018. He's a bad defender with no power. It's not really the same archetype. Also, they got Freddy Valdez (released), Luis De La Rosa (released) and Grant Gambrell!
