    @OverTheMonster Craig Breslow Vows to Pick a Lane at Trade Deadline In each of the past two seasons, the Red Sox approached the trade deadline with records that were more or less right around .500. This led to some confusing moves by former chief Chaim Bloom, who seemed to struggle with the choice to either push for the postseason or build for the future. This year, the Sox will likely again be right around .500, but new chief Craig Breslow hopes to avoid the muddy path that Bloom took, saying that, while they haven’t yet decided on what path they’ll take, the Sox plan to “pick a lane” this time.

    @SamDykstraMiLB Matthew Lugo's second Triple-A homer left the bat at 111.2 mph and went 428 feet. That's the second-highest exit velocity on a @WooSox homer this season (Mark Kolozsvary, 112.2). Only Triston Casas (111.9) has hit a homer harder for the #RedSox in 2024.

    I would say that the valuation on Perales is light considering how he's pitched this season and that he's now almost a top 50 prospect on BA. If BTV reevaluated, the trade could be an overpay.

    No, I think the SoxProspects guys have those numbers, but don't disclose them as they are not public. They have mentioned that his exit velo is very low. They've been overly down on him before he even hit AA. I wanted to see him compete at each level before I made a judgement. I think he should be given a shot at MLB at some point, just probably not 2024.

    Have Slaten pitch 250 IP. Bernardino is older so you gotta be a little more careful with him, maybe only 225.

    I think he could eventually be a UTIL guy. To be a starting player, he'd really need to hit the ball harder.

    Last night exit velo and distance for Meidroth: 99 mph 60' forceout 98 mph 383' double 93 mph 15' groundout 86 mph 12' single 78 mph 4' groundout 76 mph 236' double 9 of the top 10 exit velos in the game went for hits with 6 XBH. Chase was not among them.

    21 2.5 bWAR 22 2.5 bWAR 23 2.3 bWAR 24 1.1 bWAR (on track for almost 3 bWAR) I'd say he's closer to 2.5 bWAR than 2.

    Their circumstances are different and they are different pitchers. Those pitchers noted are BETTER than Pivetta and they got less years than some expect Pivetta to for some reason. I was just responding to the idea that pitchers in their 30's typically get contracts longer than 2 years.

    For the past 4 years, he's been a 2-2.5 pitcher. I think that's more relevant that him trying to figure out MLB at age 24. Including 24, he's averaging 2.1 bWAR for the last 4 years if he dropped dead today.

    His issue is that if he can't really punish pitchers with power, they will just go after him in MLB. Why throw any pitch outside of the zone? He'll never make them pay. I would love to see a profile like his return to MLB, but I'm not sure it can work out.
