Oh, they may try to bring up Uwasawa, but it would be a hold your nose option unless the org can straighten out what was going wrong in ST.
He could be a Barraclough/Dermody/Lamet one appearance guy.
@SoxProspects
Per the MiLB transaction page, the Boston Red Sox have released C Stephen Scott, OF Albertson Asigen, RHP Franklin German, and RHP Dylan Spacke. They have also assigned newly acquired RHP Naoyuki Uwasawa to Triple-A Worcester.
Bello vs Castillo
Cora is 0 for 4 on Opening Day as Manager of the Boston Red Sox. Last Sox Opening Day wins were Roenicke (2020) and Farrell (2017). Time for a win!
@BOSSportsGordo
Red Sox minor league infielder Christian Koss has been traded to the Giants, per @redsoxstats.
This comes the day after the team and C Stephen Scott mutually parted ways. Lots of depth in this farm system leading to decisions.
The last remnants of the Meatball Gang is gone.
Uwasawa is really only here for extreme emergency only. Maybe he can figure it out, but has looked dreadful so far.
Gambrell could certainly do what the 2006 fill-ins did for a few weeks.
Fitts needs to work on his secondary stuff before he's called up for anything more than a relief role.
Not sure about Wikelman timetable. We've seen guys like Abe Alvarez make a quick jump though.
Christian Koss has been dealt to the Giants. He hit .237/.285/.351/.636 with a homer in 34 games at AAA last season.
Frank German has been released after returning to the organization. He never made it to big league camp this spring.
In terms of excitement for Opening Day, I'm pretty low.
1. West Coast swing causing late start times
2. Boring offseason
3. Potential 3rd straight last DAMN place finish
4. Best prospects won't be here until next season
This has the makings of a very forgettable year.
Craig Breslow= Chaim Bloom pt 2.
This board spent years complaining about how Bloom was horrible for this franchise and the reason the Sox sucked. There was a CABAL of posters that supported the CBO because they were PAID BY THE FO but were routinely berated by the haters.
But I'm supposed to see this post as only being critical of John Henry?
My guess is they'll grab whatever guys run through the waiver wire if they just need innings and are placed in the standings where we expect them to be.
